I downloaded the 'latest version' of Mayday from the may.green website on 30/11/2010 and had some weird bugs around stockpiles. Regular stockpiles seem to work just fine, but custom stockpiles just sit there empty- even when all my haulers have a 'no job' listing. This seems to affect every custom stockpile. I checked it against the vanilla bay 12 download (v0.31.18) and custom stockpiles worked just fine for me in that version. I haven't made any alterations to either of them- I'm playing both just as they unzipped.

Does anyone else have that issue of crashing after zooming all the way out? It happens every time without fail for me. The "vanilla" game has no problem with zooming.

EDIT: Reverting to the old 31.12 look without true type and with the mayday font fixed it. Nice, since I like the old look better anyway.

By the by,m anyone with a good photoshop program let me know if you want me t o e-mail some screenshots I took of mining bats :D
Wanted to edit them into one of those motivational portrait things, you know "Dwarf Fortress: of course we have graphics, now suck it up and Mine those bats"

Do we know what exactly it is that causes the 'orebat' issues?

I'm currently using Zaerosz's Flavour Mod on a fresh install, and everything's working fine except for the bats, and my trees are upwards arrows. (Cedar trees are invisible.)

Orebats are caused by not updating the tile definitions in your raws. If the game wants to use the default ore tile, it will find a bat there (because that's where I put bats, see?).

Hmmm, that's an interesting concept. Is there a way to limit an object's material to a specific metal?
BTW, if the ore is calle batore, the metal would be... batmetal? that's sounds boring.

EDIT: actually, the only way to obtain batore should be killing orebats.

Iron ore -> Iron -> Ironman

Bat ore -> Bat -> BATMAN

don't forget to put Barrels/Bins setting when over a custom stockpile with 'q'
it's likely related to that

I recently updated with Mayday's v31_18, and when I try to run my saved fort, DF crashes as soon as I hit the spacebar. I've re-installed the update and made sure the Raw file had been replaced, but DF keeps crashing!  :'(

i've made sure the raws had been changed

Edit: i should clarify, after some investigation, it seems that this save is the only one effected by this mystery error, none of the others are effected. The problematic save will crash spontaneously even if unpausing  is avoided.
