This is a really great fort site for those who want a bit of everything.
It has:
Sand
Rock layers for every metal and high end gems to be available
The new HFS (the one that's only on 1 local tile per mountain tile)
5 shafts of "Praise the miners!" (one of which extends way up into the cavern system)
Plenty of surface stuff (trees for early woodcutting, murky pools for early fishing and water use, good wildlife like elephants)
Good underground stuff (accessible magma, only 15 levels down. Plenty of water. Open cave areas with lots of trees.)
And a tunnel connecting two goblin forts! (if you notice in the picture, you're RIGHT beside a dark fortress - not sure if they'll invade through that tunnel or anything, I haven't dug down to it yet).
All total the Z-levels are 76, but you should be able to modify this if you want less/more by changing the worldgen settings (it should only affect the # of layers and not the rock types or presence of HFS, unless you specifically disable it)
9 z-levels of bottom fun stuff
7 z-levels of magma sea
1 z-levels of space
5 z-levels of cavern
1 z-level of space
8 z-levels of cavern
1 z-level of space
10 z-levels of cavern
5 z-levels to the forest surface
15 z-levels of mountain
14 z-levels of air
The biomes are:
Biome 1 (left side, 8 tiles): Warm, Calm, Mountain
Obsidian
Dacite
Diorite
Rhyolite
Phyllite
Gneiss
Gabbro
Basalt
Biome 2 (upper right side, 5 tiles): Warm, Heavily Forested, Thick, Calm, Tropical Dry Brdlf Forest
Black sand
Dolomite
Granite
Gabbro
Diorite
Diorite
Granite
Quartzite
Biome 3 (bottom right side, 3 tiles): Warm, Calm, Mountain
Dolomite
Granite
Gabbro
Diorite
Diorite
Granite
Quartzite
Gabbro
For those who don't know, the layers present provide:
Obsidian - Iron, Copper, Silver, Lead, Aluminum, plus it's edged for making obsidian swords.
Dacite, Rhyolite, Basalt - same as Obsidian (except not sharp for swords)
Dolomite - Iron, Platinum, Coke, Ruby/Sapphire, Gypsum(plaster) plus its a flux stone
Granite - Gold, Silver, Lead, Emerald, Tin
Gabbro - Gold, Platinum, Diamonds, Nickel
Diorite - Lots of gold
Phyllite, Quartzite, & Gneiss - Silver, Lead, Zinc
So you get: Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Lead, Aluminum, Tin, Zinc, Nickel, Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires, Diamonds, Gypsum for healthcare, Plenty of flux, and ofcourse the sharp stone for experimenting with obsidian swords. And the iron is so darned abundant that you'll never run out of steel (it's present in 5 different layer stones!)
The world also has other interesting sites scattered around with flux and sand and such that might be good too.
One warning: The world takes a bit to gen to the year 1050, so you may want to stop early. A LOT goes on in this history - massive goblin empires, tons of wars, sites being destroyed left and right (plenty of ruins).
Anyway, heres the world gen info:

And the picture of the site location (right on top of the goblin fort):
I chose a 4x4 because I wanted to have a good mix of the biomes, but you could shrink it down to 3x3 and still have most stuff. The location of the features (for resizing it) are:
Bottom left for the HFS, upper right for the easy access magma. Magma also exists elsewhere obviously, but thats the shallowest.
