There seems to be a bug with this mod. I suspect it is because only females are trainable. You cannot actually train any of the dpigs in a kennel.

You can make tusks out of horn material, it's a line of code :).

Fixed!

I've fixed it. Add
[trAINABLE_WAR][trAINABLE_HUNTING]

To the raws beside it. I have personally verified that this works. The OP copied off of the dog entry, which doesn't have those tags. I don't know why, I havn't tried embarking with them, perhaps they are bugged. In any case...that should fix it.

What? Yes you can. I've done it.

Checked:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the mod as-is.

I and at least one other have had it not work. One person (the OP) reports otherwise. Given the many wierd and conflicting bugs in this release this is not surprising. In any case, if you find your kennels not training them, inserting my lines of code anywhere in the original entry should fix it.

I have it working. If you have a bug, report it at bugtracker.

You understand that you have to hit "train a war dog", right? Like with every other non-dog war animal?

Regardless, adding these tags you're talking about doesn't do anything that [trainable] doesn't already do. If adding the tags you're talking about "fixed" your "problem", you didn't really have a problem in the first place. Probably just user error.

Its not a user error, Gravitas. I know how to work a freaking Kennel. The dwarf would go to the kennel, start the job, go to find the animal, head to the animal, and once he got to the animal cancel his job, saying something about no valid target found.

Restarting didn't help. I had hoped it was just a wierd pathfinding bug, but alas. So I looked at your code, then did a wiki search. Seeing those tags in the wiki, I figured adding them might help, so I did. When I restarted, I never had the problem again. Presumably this is about what the person above experienced.

Frankly, I can't counter your image with a picture of my own, because I'd need to make a video, which I'm not about to do, and you can't prove a negative anyways.

Regardless, we have a (half?) functional mod, and a couple of extra tags that may or may not alleviate the problem.

Now then, let us LET LOOSE THE DOGS SOWS OF WAR!!

Can you take a screenshot of just the error message?

It's projects like this that make DF worth playing. However, while I like the idea, I think that the Carapace just doesn't fit. A Shell-less version would, I feel, fit more.

However, a Deep Cave Sow, semi-aquatic, albino, and be-carapaced, would not be objectionable at all.

It wouldn't be right  unless it were blind, then.  Hmmmm.....
