These guys are awesome, but it does make it a bit tricky when you start a fort, dig down a few levels and hit the caverns and one spawns in and eats your handful of dwarves. Having an option in the raws to allow you to make them vulnerable to traps alters the early game a little so that you have a bit more breathing room, and since it is a toggle all the 'IF YOUR DWARVES AREN'T DEAD IN A YEAR YOU AREN'T FAILING HARD ENOUGH ONLY FAILING IS FUN RAAAARGH' people can just pretend it isn't there and not use it.

Don't dig down so fast/devise a cave in trap if you do.

Adding a toggle wouldn't hurt anyone, but I don't think toady should worry about spending the time to do so unless there is more than one person who wants this. King Doom, add a poll to the thread so we can see if this is something that you alone want, or if there is anyone else who feels the same way. If you're the only one, it probably isn't going to be worth Toady's time to add it. The vast majority of current players are comfortable just walling off areas they don't want to have problems from, and most newbies won't be burrowing into the depths right away either. I just don't think there are enough people who want this for it to ever happen. Sorry.

Others have already stated solutions. There's little need to trivialize the things just because you're impatient.
