The difference between Play now! and Set up carefully.

Is a heck of a lot of history!  Seeing the historical relationships of the starting 7?  SO COOL.

I have decided that with the new awesome immigrants, "Play Now!" is the official new best way to play.

Yea, but then your stuck with all these useless medical supplys that you wont use in the first year, and you can so easily mass manufacture.

Well, dwarves with military skills aren't in the military on migration..
And a high-master soaper might have the armorsmith task activated instead!

It's really quite buggy, but yeah, if the right tasks were activated it would be freaking sweet!

The difference between Play Now and Set up Carefully is apparently excessive vagueness. :P

Not at all, the difference is clear. One of them has lots of history associated with your dwarves ;)

Depends, on a standard mountain with trees type of site, standard is perfect. On anything else it becomes a challenge.
With specific themed or project embarks it is usual to take 7 miners or more farmers or whatever is required.

Currently embarked on a sinister mountain without any trees with the standard embark team.
Sadly a zombie mountain goat spawned 8 tiles next to my wagon, preventing anyone from getting any equipment! They have been strangling the cadaver for a month now and are getting tired.
Probably will need to abandon and reclaim the site without a single item unpacked. ><
edit: yep. all of my dwarves were strangling the goat, fainting of overexhaustion, then going back to the strangling ad infinitum.

Too bad some couldn't just hold the thing down while the others went to take a break, had some beer and a scone, and commented on what they were doing wrong. Maybe a nap. Then come back and help and let the others take a break.

They were content simply to live long lives and to exist. They did not nothing of any real value, in the opinion of Mistral Thrax."

I just stat a Play Now! and didnt notice anything different. Are you talking about the relationships between the dwarves? This occurs when you Set up carefully too.

And I was thinking the starting seven were dragged from existing populations...

yeah! And get a rope from the wagon to tie the twitching remains down.
I'd love it when T1 gets around to coding civ-AI to ignore passive and/or incapacitated creatures.
Or at least only keep several tiles away from it, even without limbs these new critters can bite your head of in a single lunge sometimes. O_o

I now have two wagons...as well as corpses of the animals the previous team brought. can't find any of the goats or the dwarves... they may be waiting in the hills, turned to zombies themselves.
Oddly there are several pieces of leather scattered around the site. oh well, leather armour for my miners.
