True story; I got called into my manager's office on an anonymous tip I was a 'communist-hating Nazi'.

Lousy trade union, keeping down the volkish worker.

Wait how do you get milking to work now? I haven't been able to find it. Edit: OMG! It's right there on Farmer's Workshop!

Also, what's bigger: "gigantic" or "enormous"?

One step closer to simulating all of reality.  ;D Are there any genes for giving milk?
I would focus first on gigantic genes, then getting white/cream colored cows. Once you get a herd of mostly gigantic and mixture of light/dark cows, you can start getting rid of the darker ones.

Also, savescumming works with colors! You can have perfect herds in one generation!  :D

I think this is where the DF-players-are-Hitler jokes go from being just jokes to still jokes but lose some of their irony.

Still. Someone has to open up a chain of McUrist's sooner or later.

Every kid's meal comes with a kobold cap!

A friend says "You want cave wheat with that?"

A "Big Cap?" Hamburger with grilled plump helmet and a special rhinolizard sauce!

Okay, had a crash but reloaded and the calf was born again, this time male, white and gigantic. Again, all descriptive traits found in the mating couple. With two examples of breeding producing a predictable result, I'm pretty sure I'm onto something. Now the only question; butcher the cream-colored but not gigantic bull and replace it with this one, or let it breed a little more? I don't have a gigantic, white/cream bull to replace it, only a bull calf.

Everyone vote for the incest! woo.  ???

hey I'll run a burger noble and capitalize on the process of cat spore breeding leading to faster cattle and more beef/workers. yet since darius is waiting for a patch for the bugs I'll have to just go for plan B. "Bronze&Bronze furniture and comforters and statues" and market on luxury beds, cabinets, and statues handcrafted by statues to be sure the quality is living proof that your getting the best.

Does anyone have a confirmed list of the various attributes how they correspond to meat and fat on butchering?

So far I've seen:

fat
quite fat
very fat
"bears untold amounts of fat"

very skinny
skinny (part of "enormous yet skinny")

very weak

"isn't very muscular"
muscular

enormous overall
gigantic/gigantic build/gigantic frame

-also no modifiers at all

on donkeys and mules (probably the same for cows) -

I've heard some evidence against fat and muscle descriptions relating to butchery (though, it was only on a single example). I do, however, think this could be very effective when applied to dogs.

Highest strength and endurance become wardogs, most agile become hunting dogs. Others and any mutts produced between those and dogs-in-service are kept as pets or slaughtered.

Saw one (a finished one) go up on the wiki somewhere. I'll go take a look for you and see if I can find it.

ed- Found it in the string dump. There's a lot of them, be warned. Copied anything relevant to body fat/muscle/frame.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Beset by morbid obesity" was the worst I found.

interesting. looks like with cows at least we are working with:

1. size
2. fat vs skinny
3. muscular vs weak

for example:

"is (gigantic) but (incredibly skinny) with (virtually no muscles to speak of)"

or

"(very large) and (bears great lard rolls) and (impressive muscles)

If there's nothing written it's probaby an average modifier.

Like creature personalities these are probably on a scale from 0-100 with things like 0-20 all being described the same.

Obviously different creatures might have different ones, like cows probably don't have tallness but dwarves do.

Alright, I'm gonna run some tests regarding cow attributes and butchery through arena mode.  Gimme a moment.

EDIT:  Alright, the first test group seems to confirm that there IS some correlation between description and result.

Cow 1, "Huge, Fat, Muscular":
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cow 2, "Very Fat, Enormous"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cow 3, "Very Fat, Enormous"
(Same as Cow 2)

Cow 4, "Gigantic, Incredible Muscles"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I would've continued with a larger (and more controllable, due to them not killing each other) test group, but I, ah, experienced certain "difficulties".  Namely, the cows failed to stay intact while getting slaughtered (due to a change in equipment) and it was difficult to accurately track all their components.

I was going to test this in my fortress

but I just got wiped out by a goblin ambush and voracious cave crawler simultaneously attacking me from above and below...

so maybe I'll just do a new embark for it.

Grrr! Goblins ambushed my trade depot with its nearby cattle pastures and slaughtered half my stock! Fortunately a mating pair exists... gigantic and very muscular and enormous muscular. Lets hope I still get a good strain out of this.

My outpost leader was 'belarded by great, hanging sacks of fat'. I hated him. Is there anyway to get dwarves on an exercise program?
