What is your gfx resolution?
« on: April 07, 2010, 04:08:49 pm »

Hey duders! I got me a new display, so right now I'm capable of playing with a 21x21px tileset... if I get around to making it. In any case, I'm curious what resolutions are your machines capable of.

Highlighted text requires a PNG, so it's not possible in DF2010 yet.

I also use 1280 pixels width, which is the maximum for my monitor, so nothing more than 80 tiles at 16 pixels width will fit on my screen (although for ease of seeing things, I tend to make my tiles 20 pixels tall, and don't mind the "distortion" that produces)

I've been working on 1280x1024 for a while now, which gives me 80 columns of 16x16

But now I have a 1680x1050 screen available, which would give me the same 80 columns of 21x21.

Where is 1600?  :D  There are many 4:3 monitors.
I have 1600x1200 pix 21"monitor. So max size of tiles for me is 20x20.

I'd like to have and to create/modify/improve 20x20 tileset, but I'm still use 16x16.
And if u gonna make a 21x21 tiles, then I wish you to do 20x20px exactly, to improve compatibility with all existed (1600 and 1680) monitors. Thanx.

I hate to burst your bubble, kid, but that 1080p means it's only 1080 pixels tall.  (Of course, that's not actually what the 1080p means, as that has to do with interlacing/progressive scan and I don't want to get into that)
It might be widescreen, but it's only just barely taller (in computing terms, the size of the actual screen doesn't matter).

Also, you'd be running the same thing on both screens if you use a splitter, which would make one of the two useless.  I'd suggest a graphics card upgrade so you don't /need/ the splitter.
You can get a good card with two DVI ports for $25 nowadays.
Mine has an HDMI out, but that's irrelevant as I don't use this as a media center PC.
