Slave Trafficking!?
« on: April 07, 2010, 03:41:46 pm »

Okay, so long story short a giant cave spider webbed a few dwarves on the cage traps. I now have two ((dwarf cage))'s.

Can you trade dwarves stuck in cages? Pretty crazy if you can, eh?

LOL: "She admired a fine trap recently. She has been depressed about being confined recently."

In previous versions when you marked a cage containing an [INTELLIGENT] creature, the creature would be released when the cage is brought to the depot.

note: dumping the cage, does not necessarily have the same effect and will result in a dwarf cage in your dump.

But not against Imprisonment and Capital Punishment. I guess the Dwarves just assume they deserved it.

Hmm, if you make them anti-capital punishment will the damned hammerer go away?

The hammerer will still be, but his punishments probably won't.

You could just remove McHammerer from the raws.

Hey, with weapon weights now being a factor in damage, what about making him use a really low-weight "hammer"? (as in making him use a modded hammer that weighs next to nothing)

At the very least, punished dwarves won't face certain doom.  Although, if dwarves are sentenced to death, would he just pound dwarves with his squeaky hammer until something interrupts or they both go insane?

You can't sell intelligent beings. They're still let out of their cages when you designate them to be moved to the trading post..

I've found cage traps to be fairly effective at catching goblin snatchers and now have a surplus of them. Trying to sell one just freed him. Amusingly, on the way out of the fortress he ran back into those same cage traps..

In my first DF 2010 fort, elven traders sold me a Tigerman. He was listed as a "Tigerman Surgeon" in my units list. Alas, since it was just a quick test-run of a fort I didn't take the time to put up adequate defences (didn't realize I _needed_ adequate defences now :)) and I got wiped out by goblins before I could experiment much with him.

Tigermen have the [PET] tag... so they are sold by elves.

I hope I'm not the only person picturing them jumping up and down saying "Laguna!  Laguna!"

And when you build your fortress walls from the bones of skeletal elephants, slain my weapons forged from melted goblin plunder, fed on cattle that graze on grass that blinks.  Then, you will know dwarfdom.

I am now...  ::)

Actually, I think his punishments would remain, and then **he* would have to be punished for killing someone.  Hilarity.

:( He just couldn't survive in the outside world. The cages were all he knew, so after he got his sweet freedom, he felt the need to end up right back on the inside. Truly a tragedy and a failure of the dwarven justice system.

(A failure because the goblin survived)

Also, I will love whenever the cage bugs are sorted out. It's screwed me up a number of times, including causing the downfall of my first 2010 fort by the death of my mayor and the subsequent no new nobles bug.
