Since us eastern coast guys can't come to the one in Washington, how about we set one up ourselves? N.C. here, willing to come to anything within a state away.

'08 was in April and '09 was in May

You understand this means it HAS to be June, right?

(Especially since I'm facing criminal charges and my trial date is in may, so if it isn't late June, I'm SOL. Of course my financial situation means I'm SOL anyway, so oh well.)
You should sue Toady for making fell moods seem legal.

This reminds me - are there any other Hali DF players? I've yet to meet/hear of one, but I'd love to have a however-small meetup if I'm not alone out here.
I used to live outside Halifax, although I'm in Ontario for a while yet.

Ironically I'm from Toronto and have been out here like eight months :P

I live just outside Seattle, I'm quite happy to attend any event in Washington :)

I like how the 'criminal charges' pops up right after someone attempts to make this community seem like anything but terrifying.  ;D

Oy, if anything does get planned and it happens to be in some remote, inaccessible area like the United States and us foreign dwarves can't pathfind to it, any chance of getting a live stream going if anything interesting starts?

I always try and set up something like that.  It usually works pretty well until the batteries run out.

Tag.
Not that anything will come of it for me. It'll most likely be planned for a day I have school, and all the past times it's seemed like it's been partly at a bar or something, which would be fine, but a, I don't drink, and b, even if I did, I'm 19.
It really isn't anything like that.  The place we've been holding it is open to everyone, although I don't know if that place will work with the increase in attendance we've had.

Anyway, I'm in provided nothing comes up between now and then.

I'd totally go if it was in late May/early June

There have been meet-ups before with no issue. See http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=34366.0

THESE are all the people who sound like they'd be willing to go. And since a few of us have mentioned June, and since that would give us the most time to get something going, why don't we pick June to be DFM month? If anyone here can remember the peoples who attended last year or the year before, let's get them in this thread. Here's the link:

I was thinking about hosting an east coast meetup. No Toady so attendance would probably be pretty low. Still just a dream though.

And these two, at least, sound interested in an East Coast meetup. I'd like to see you folks get one going, with or without Toady. It'd be pretty awesome.

So I was thinking as far as location goes, maybe some kind of public park where we can have a bbq and stuff.  The only problem would be internet and power access.  It'd probably be a bit cheaper to set up and a lot less crowded.

How many people show up, exactly? I think everyone should be responsible for their own pickaxe/ax/medical supplies/weapons. Weapons especially. If we're going to build in a park we want to be able to fend off the police long enough to build a wall sealing us off from the rest of the world.

And lets not forget plump helmet spores. We cant surface for some time after killing police

I'd be willing to go if it was held in some civilised place, like middle europe, western europe at it's best (and, no, UK is not europe, it just dreams to be). USA is pretty remote and I lack both time and finances to attend anything there.

Welcome to Murdermachines. Try the gecko sauce; it's delectable and delightful, a wonderful blend of savory and spicy that makes any dish delicious without being too overwhelming.

I could see laptop screen visibility being a problem outdoors as well. I imagine a fair amount of the community is cave-adapted anyhow.

And yeah, I'm very willing to go, I'm just not really in the best location for travelling.

Flighs are cheap... So I guess I could make it anywhere in Europe... Is anyone near any interesting geological features or an interesting  mine or some thing? it would be realy cool to play DF on the Giants Causeway or deep underground then a nice meal in a good setting.
My preferance wolud be for meeting in Ireland, Germany or the UK but that's just for language reasons...
Wait a second... Iceland! They've got lava...

Ahhhhhhh I didn't say that D:

I only came for Haligonians, but I stayed to provide a link...

Also, if you guys do meet up, please do so in a Legendary1 Dining Room or an extensive cavern underneath the earth. Without playing Dwarf Fortress the entire time...? And without doing anything too silly - I'd hate to see Dwarf Fortress on CNN/CBC/BBC with bad press...

1. The definition of legendary may be modified to suit location.
