Breath Attacks. Useless?

Anyone else finding they won't work properly? For any tissue, it's a glob. Inorganic, it's a rock. Gas is some kind of magma.
Or is it just me being stupid and not knowing how?

Some of them do. TRAILING_VAPOR_FLOW was spitting magma a minute ago.
Set to inorganic it spits magma vapor, which then melts whoever spit it.

All breath attacks apart from LIQUID_GLOB work perfectly fine.  Trust me on that.

Every time I use it it spits out magma vapor and then dies. Any idea why?

You are probably misusing MAT_FIXED_TEMP or not naming the material states correctly.  Would you mind pasting your raws?

Forces the material to stay at a fixed temperature.  It's how freezing and burning gasses work.

All breath attacks work as intended, I have a variery of creatures which breath poison, miasma, flies and other things in my Genesis mod.

Post your not working raws so we could check.

LIQUID_GOB acts like a solid and doesn't contaminate targets.  Apart from that, though, yes, everything seems to work fine.

You know, if you made a solid bronze creature that was tagged with [IMMOBILE_LAND] you could potentially create a "Turret" of sorts with the proper breath attack usage. Now, the problem is whether or not reactions can create said creature.

You could always hope the elves bring said creature in a cage for you (sure, it's immersion breaking, but funny).  Hmm... can you imagine getting a breeding pair of immobile turrets?  lol.

Yes, the breath attacks do work, in some sense of the word.  However, temperature values do not seem to be applied properly.

Gas and vapor attacks will automatically cause the shot material to change into its boiling state.  Dust, SOLID_GLOB and LIQUID_GLOB all set the material to its frozen/solid state (dust attacks also seem to have some boiling-state material "hiding" in the cloud of solid-state...  I get notifications of creatures being caught in a "cloud of boiling X", but I can't find the clouds it's referring to).  All this is done regardless of temperature values, so far as I can tell.

Using melting/boiling point values does nothing, even when used in conjunction with a higher MAT_FIXED_TEMP.


If I'm doing something wrong, then sure...  But neither the base material template values nor the modified material values seem to have any effect.
