bone/shell stockpiles?
« on: April 07, 2010, 12:43:04 am »

How do I make a stockpile for bones and shells in the new df version?  under 40d, I could just make a refuse stockpile set to accept only bones and shells, but that option is gone under the new version.

Well when I go under refuse, there's 3 options: corpses, body parts, and something else I've forgotten(item types?).  Under 40d, if you selected that third one "item types", or whatever it was called, there would be options to store shells and bones.  In the new version, those options are no longer there.

you're not alone. I couldn't find it in any of the stockpile settings either.

I think the solution now is to forbid the first two refuse categories and permit everything in "body parts".  That'll get the bones and shells, anyway, but it'll also get other stuff which may be useless.

Refuse stockpile now need some micromanagement. Designate a decent size bodypart refuse pile ( Wont produce miasma ), and once in a while atom-smash some of these pesky hair, nerve, cartillage as they have no use and dont decay.

that was a luky dwarf. I had one dabbling surgeon fail so spectacularly that the patient skull flew a tile away from the table.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Let's hope this was an oversight, not an intentional change.

This worked for me.

OK, thanks.  I'll do that then.  Hopefully the change was unintentional, and it gets fixed.
