That's a sweet as sweetbread fortress you got going there! Be sure to tell me when a forgotten beast swims in and shreds every living thing in sight!

I like trade with the elves, hold off a siege or two, and slaughter a few nobles, but what ever floats your boat.

You probably make an effort to get rid of all those loose rocks too.  :P

Just make a nice deep hole down to the red an' burny ocean. Instant trash disposal. : )

Na, I found a more effective method. Find ten useless haulers and tell them that from now on, there only mission in life is to make stone mugs. Then every time a caravan comes, trade all mugs for everything they got. Gets rid of stone and gets you some cool stuff.

So I'm not the only one who smooths even stockpiles and channels.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

My hallways are 11 spaces long (exactly a Shift+Move), 5 spaces wide. The joints at 7x7 with missing edges, containing a 5x1 staircase that will typically point up and down unless there will be no tunnel constructed there ever (no dead ends). Using this layout, it is possible to construct 5 different rooms in between hallways: 9 3x3s (workshops), 4 5x5s (large workshops, small storage), 2 11x5s (I call them lung-rooms, as you can fit two side-by-side in one segment), 1 11x5 + 2 5x5s (combo), 1 11x11 (huge storage).

I smooth everything, even floors.  The only time I don't smooth floors is if there's no time (Such as makeshift or sudden need to dig or build).  Even if I'm digging a multi-level open space, I smooth the floors for the experience.

Wait, there's a society for folks like us? The Gears of Smoothing. I say we form a group. Band together against our clutter loving brethren.

The Elves were beautiful, Mistral Thrax admitted, in and elvish way, but it was his belief that the gods grew disappointed after a time because the elves -- being elves -- were essentially decorative but not particularly functional. They were content simply to live long lives and to exist. They did not nothing of any real value, in the opinion of Mistral Thrax."

*Raises hand* I remove clutter as well. All must be smooth... smooth... smooth. Good thing there is no obsession involved, otherwise a thing like this would probably require mental scrutiny, and that's not good for such smooth operations!

I choose whether to smooth or not based on how annoying the rock looks. Something like granite MUST be smooth, marble isn't so bad.
