D is for Dwarf
« on: April 06, 2010, 10:12:02 pm »

We need more joke terminology.

I say we use 'Dorf' as a good-hearted way to poke fun at someone's unintelligenceness.
Call unpleasant/useless words in a thread 'Miasma'.
And start using spoilers for anything that may expose people to clowns and clown cars and clownite.  And the new lampshade.

If anything, we need less. Generally speaking the community uses dorf as a silly term of endearment or sometimes a verb/adjective/what-have-you, uses miasma when referring to rotting flesh, and uses the clown metaphor and its extensions way too damn much. I'll add that saying "The community should make more jokes" is a very good way to not get people to accept new jokes. Spontaneity and general consensus is everything on that kind of matter.

This is the kind of thing that ruins comedy.

Dwarf Fortress' forums are now 4chan.

Everyone not in on the jokes is an elf.

I think we need to do away with the clown metaphor all together. It's become obsolete.

How about we just use that thar spoiler tag.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I say we don't create joke terminology just for the sake of having it.

What we really need is more D is for Dwarf bug explanations. Liek the explanation that dwarves have mastered the art of beard fishing so that they dont need rods, yet the deadly carp have learned to drag the dwarf by the beard into the depths.

PEOPLE W/ EYES - Brian Peppers
DONKEYS - 7/11
SLADE - Rock Band
NOBLES - A hole in my pocket
DWARF - Not-dwarf
ELF - The Mississippi River
HUMAN - Buzz Aldrin
CARAVAN - Television Set

My not-dwarves killed off The Mississippi River Television Set, We used the picks we found on Buzz Aldrin's 7/11 to strike the earth, we found a mysterious structure of Rock Bands, we sent the hole in my pockets in first, they were no longer Brian Peppers anymore. They were died.

That's impossible! Everybody knows the Mississippi river television set doesn't carry picks!

The clown metaphor is one I thoroughly detest as I find it pretty retarded. What happened to just saying HFS?
