Do NOT mess with Bronze Colossi. I modded Giants to never tire and then went into the arena and put 25 Giants, all legendary skills, with SLADE sledges against one unarmed unskilled Bronze Colossus. I then let them fight while I slept. I woke up and they were still trying to murder each other. I've managed to have them die against slade two handed swords, but never with anything but slade. Even adamantine can't kill them.

So, I tediously awaited the arrival of the dwarven caravan (I'm set up on a island, see)... And, they came. My fingers tingled, my nose twitched and my toes tickled... they came around the corner, over my bridge... Into my courtyard... Onto my trade depot...

Then everything near it exploded in a cloud of blood.

Well, the Uber-microcline isn't going to do much, especially as a hammer. Colossi don't have organs to pierce, and it weighs too much for any hammer. The Colossi also won't die from losing limbs, unless you get lucky somehow. Were the Giants on the same team?

The fabric of hell can beat them, Dragons (traditional symbols of evil) can melt them, and magma (hell's ceiling) can kill them as well. Anyone else see a pattern?

Yes but then the three children hanging off her will catch fire.
And that's stopped people before...?

And it's the fabric of Hell itself. Literally.

Adamantine is insanely light. A WOODEN hammer would do more damage.

But adamantine is ADAMANTINE god damn it! An adamantine weapon has no dull surfaces, everything has been sharpened to a monoatomic level.

A dwarf dosen't know what monoatomic is, he just knows that he needs it sharp enough to cut a block of adamantine.

He needs the adamantine sharp enough to cut adamantine. Grand. Our dwarves are LAZY then, obviously, since I'm pretty sure a block of adamantine is harder than an oversized chunk of bronze with some humanoid features. :-\

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

try throwing him down the inevitable hole into the bottom of the earth contained in your cave, then drag him around till you find magma. then toss him in.watch as he melts. Cook marshmellows to level your cooking skill while waiting the long time it takes bronze Mechagodzilla to melt.

Theoretically, you could also try to use fire to melt it. But by using magma, you'll acheive superdwarvenly dwarvenness and don't have to stand on burning stuff.

Well, my experimental colossus armed with slade great axe managed to kill of another colossus just fine (pieces of bronze were literary flying everywhere, some landed as far as 15 fields from fight). Must say that by the time it died not much of him remained.

The current update should fix this issue. Also, whatever the issue was, it wasn't with sever_on_breaks, because that tag is obsolete; It seems that there was some more serious issue with the underlying mechanics that got fixed, although what that was I don't know.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

To my knowledge it was because wounds on non-living creatures didn't accumulate. So effectively only strikes that would have lopped off a limb in one hit would actually do so.
