Who is random?

So when you embark, which of you edit your group and fortress names? Which of you "let it ride"?

Personally, I prefer to be surprised with the fortress name, but my group gets a custom name. Although pressing 'r' a few times will do the trick, sometimes you need something special. Like my last embarkment, led by "The Big Bad Guild of Disembowelment".

I usually "r" a few times too, for both Fortress and Group names ...
I want to have something related with my idea of the fortress ...
i got "The first fortress" as groupname for my first in DF2010, after 3 "r" ... loved it !

I "r" them both for a couple of times. Doesn't have to be great. just something nice or comprehensible. Hallslabored is just too generic.

Starting another group, I chose "Aceace the Ace Ace Ace-ace of Aces".

Lately I've had a habit of calling my friend who is a linguist, and saying random words to her from the DF wordlist until she laughs. Then I compile them and name my fortress that way.

My latest fortress is named "Bodicecuddled the Buttery Cod-forsaken Maggot-Carnality of Swallowing".

the only fort I've ever named, I think, was the first 2010 one, which I named "first blood"
and a bloody fort it was

I'm completely inconsistent. Sometimes I'll cycle through a few until I find one that's awesome, other times I'll completely forget that I even can do that.

Group, I have no care for what that gets named. But fortress I will either press 'r' for about 40 minutes until I get a really nice one I like, for example one was 'the purple towers'. OR I'll just search for the specific words to make up my all time favourite fortress name, TrumpetShark.

If I'm planning something specific, I'll name a fort, but usually I let the game offer up a random choice, then try to come up with a somehow-appropriate local government name. Ie, the fortress "Linemirrored" was run by "The Business of Polishing"
