It was better than the city at least. He’d take the twenty some untrained minds over untold thousands any day. On the flipside, though, rather than just blending into a torrent of white noise, the minds were few enough to let him hear complete thoughts. Normally, most were benign enough. However, one of the bodyguards kept imagining about doing lurid things to one of the women in the group, until Joseph couldn’t take it anymore and told him to keep his thoughts to himself and out of his pants. Privately of course, it wouldn’t do to embarrass one of his protectors, and he did seem mortified that someone was seeing his thoughts. He made an effort to discipline his thoughts. He failed miserably, of course, but he still made the effort.

To pass the time on the trip, and to make himself useful, Joseph practiced on tuning out the other minds present and reaching out with his mind. He scanned the surroundings for thoughts of any sort, mostly just picking up the primitive, instinct driven thoughts of animals. They were merely fuzzy notions, base desires for food, shelter, and such. Joseph pointed out the locations of some promising game for Alma to hunt. He also managed to tame a bird resembling a parrot with dark green feathers during his practicing. He didn’t know what use there was in influencing animals, but it did help him pass the time.

Final boarding call. We are missing Strife. Post something by tomorrow, otherwise you accomplish diddly squat.

Not sure tht was worth waiting for, but oh well. Turn commencing, and a notice.
IMPORTANT: To meet my own expectation of two turns a week, I'll need turns posted in the next 4 days. If you don't post 'em, we'll continue without you.

THE TURN:

Expedition:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Martin:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Woohoo. That wasn't actually that bad, even though a lot happened. Not having to write the same thing five times from different perspectives helps. ;D

Continue on with the journey, I suppose. Ask how their Master unsettles them.

How many other ferals are there in this expedition?
And who's their leader?
Theo needs to prove the other ferals that he ain't a pushover,
to prevent the possibility that they might try to kill him at some time.. (Theo is kinda paranoid.)
Also, a display of power might make them see him as a possible leader. ;D

We'll say... 4 Ferals. So yeah, I'll go with that.

And webadict. You'll be meeting up with others soon. You'll have strong allies. And the isn't theirs. it is the Master of the Links. All they say is that it 'feels dead/evil.'

Hmm... This is gonna suck. If they're feeling it and allowing me passage through their lands... AND HELPING ME RESCUE AN ALLY, I'm gonna assume this is preeeetty bad.

Well, it seems death awaits me. Let's go!

Sorry, but I'd still like either Strife or Fortis. A two day extension shouldn't hurt.

Yeah.

Also, deadlycairn, I have a question. Who rules over Sanctuary? Is there some council or something that enforces laws and shit?

The Orders as a group are responsible for their Castes, and the heads of each Order form a coalition government together.

Generally though, Empaths, Arcanists and Warpers are more likely to be in the higher-up places. Just the way it is.

Empaths, Warpers, and Arcanists belong to a sub-group. Said sub-group, which is linked to the collection of knowledge, is very high up in the hierarchy, in part because of abilities (for the Empaths), in part because Arcanists were the main founders of the city and are the least likely to kill you, and in part out of the necessity of staying in a focus-friendly environment (Warpers).

Also because the accumulation of knowledge is one of the Orders' stated main goals.

Way down in the hierarchy are the Ferals, because they have this habit of eating you, the Warlocks, because they have a LOT of evil connotations, and the Metalmorphs, because no one forgets how much they screwed everyone else over.
