My material mod has upped the sharpness of teeth, so maybe it'll make nice doggies more dangerous.

So far, testing has been pretty normal, except fat keeps getting "shattered" by punches, causing extreme bleeding.  I guess I'll need to make it stronger.

Okay, a single naked elf has just killed 3 dragons by punching them in the heads and driving bone fragments into their brains.  I guess 10x PSI is what stuff is supposed to be.

So you use bodkin arrows too now? Nice. I should look at this mod again, it got updated.

I've notices that a simple soulgem that works like a brain for the bronze colossus works just perfectly.

Okay, I think my material mod is now pretty solid.  Multiplied everything by 10, and I seem to actually be getting the intended behaviors now.  Unarmed attacks have a very low chance of breaking bones unless you're very skilled, unskilled attacks with an iron mace tend to only break joints and very rarely break long bones, while skilled attacks with an iron maul shatter bones with almost every hit.

And a single unskilled dog vs. a single unskilled elf tends to kill the elf consistently, though the dog ends up badly bruised all over.  And if the elf manages to get a chokehold, the dog loses.

Just need to upload it somewhere.

What is "long bone" in the raws? How do you define them?

I mean just regular bones, upper leg, lower arm, etc.

From what I saw attacking an elf as an unskilled mace-weilding elf, it wouldn't break the arms or legs, but did break the hands, feet, shoulders, elbows, etc.

Edit: And now blunt weapons finally have an effect through armor, though only at a high skill level.

Interesting.  How often are the blunt weapons killing now?

Blunt weapons are still very very slow killers, only killing if you drive a rib into the lungs or heart, skull into the brain, bone through an artery, etc.  Which is realistic, since that's how blunt weapons kill people in real life, too.

Three words, "blunt force trauma".  Doesn't take a bone IRL to kill someone with a blunt object.  If anything, that kind of blunt death is fairly rare, since it takes a hell of a hit to both shatter and drive bones into organs (Such a strong hit would probably be fatal anyway due to the trauma).

Blunt force trauma to?  So blunt force to the pinkie can kill someone via magic?  Because it's just blunt force, period?

No, the one and only thing that kills people and other animals is brain death.  Either destroying the brain directly, or depriving it of oxygen via bleeding (internal or external) or reduced circulation.  Or extended fever/external heat denaturing proteins, whatever.

Blunt weapons in game can either destroy the brain on a head hit, or do sufficient damage somewhere else to make them bleed to death (which works, internal organs can still get smashed through the other layers).  Fairly sure going into shock isn't implemented yet.

You got organ hemorrhaging to work?  I haven't been able to get blunt weapons to do more than "bruise" internal organs, which ain't enough to kill in game.

I think I'll play with organ and muscle strength a little, later.  Like I said earlier, extremely weak fat was being "shattered" by punches.  It should be possible to make organs a strength that they'll still only be bruised, at most, by weak attacks, but "shattered" by strong blunt attacks.  Muscles should be tear-able by blunt attacks, too.

I also noticed I left a few densities at 500 kg/m^3, which will be fixed for version 0.2.

Have you tried some of the toothier animals against armoured/scaled foes yet? Stuff that attacks with tooth or claw have basically no chance of damaging anything more heavily armoured than a crocodile, while punches and stuff can cause significant bruising.

Well actually I've got some tigers and elephants that I'm waiting on to breed, not sure how long their gonna take.

I was asking Arrkhal, but no worries.
I don't think elephants have the [BABY:x] tag, so I'm not sure if they'll breed. They have a child age tag though, so you might be alright. If you've got a pair capable of breeding, the ladyphant is probably already pregnant. They grow to adulthood in something along the lines of five years - which must be a sight to behold.
