Give more information with the "k" (look) key

This was something I wanted back in 40d too, but in 2010 it's even more desirable.

When viewing objects with K, you don't get a lot information. You don't get its quality level, expanded description (like when expanding the item list when building something) and you can't view the item using k either.

All of those things would be nice, especially for stuff like statues. When I place a statue of a plump helmet man in my meeting hall, I'd like to know it's a masterwork plump helmet man statue when I look at it.

Huh?  Do you mean that it should say "well crafted," "superior," etc instead of -item name- and *item name*?

It could show the symbol next to the object name much like it does when you select items in the build menu.

It does show the quality symbol next to the item name in the k-menu.  Am I missing something?

I don't see quality symbols next to place objects with "k". Statues only display the material too, not the actual statue description..."statue of..."

If that's a bug on my end, it would still be nice to be able to hit "v" while using the look function to view item descriptions...sort of like you do when you hit "R" and view rooms and items directly.

"Place objects"?  If you mean built items, that's the first time in this thread I had any inkling that you didn't mean items just lying on the ground.

Statues and other built items show their quality levels when you look at them with 't'.  But yes, it would be convenient if the two modes of looking could be combined.

Sorry if my terms confused you. I always think of it as placing built objects rather than building objects that have...already been built.

On the subject of combining view modes, of you're in the preferences menu of a dwarf (through k-press enter on dwarf), there is no way to get to the job etc. menu from there. You have to remember the name and look it up in the unit list. If you enter the z: menu from the jobs menu, it functions as it should.
