Hunting Titans?
« on: April 05, 2010, 03:46:25 pm »

So, now that we have giant randomized monsters roaming biomes, I was wondering if anyone's actually seen one in adventure mode.  Regions are pretty big, and it seems they don't ambush, so I'm not sure about how one would ever find and kill one, other than get one in a tiny region and just wander until it shows up.  Has anyone found a better way of finding one?  Going on a quest to slay all the titans is a pretty awesome concept, especially now that creature size has an actual effect on what you hit, giving it a Shadow of the Colossus vibe.  Getting a giant feathered triceratops to ram into a wall charging at you and then jumping at it from behind and stabbing it in the head is very possible (I've even done it before, but the triceratops was hairy, not feathered), and it needs to be done.  I may even create my third Ultimate Challenge thread (First being climb a mountain when said first became possible, second was walk across the world without fast travel, forsaken by me for being hella boring)

I thought I saw a titan once, but it was a spoily-monster. Suffice to say, I didn't last long.

A towering quadruped made from clear glass. I didn't get a single hit in. It grabbed me by the upper body with its beak and bit me in half.

How did you find it?  Were you wandering a biome?  Did it ambush you?

I abandoned a fortress and then played a bit adventure mode. Later I checked Legends, and some of the survivors were killed by clowns roaming the countryside (those that did not manage to take away the power somewhere) when they were trying to reach another Mountainhome.

Not that I know of. It would be nice though. Just like being able to use backpacks and spawn more then one arrow at a time.

[...]spawn more then one arrow at a time.

Select the arrow in the item list and hit '+'.

Easy mode: Set Titan number to 300-400 or even 1000 on world parameters. Enjoy all the ruined civilizations.

Of course, then you have to deal with the ensuing waves of titan attacks.

Oh, so that's why the worldgen keeps eternally rejecting all my worlds whenever I change the advanced parameters to what I want. No playable civ. d'oh.

More demons than your hell has room for, even.

Or at least more demons than all other species combined.
