No, an "Alchemist's workshop" is a soap maker's workshop.
Still playing 40d?  'Cause in the new version it's called a soap making shop.  And you don't need clear glass vials for it.

That wasn't the case for me.  I got a steel ring, then a steel bracelet when I reloaded the game after the crash.  The former was unadorned, the latter had steel decorations.
It sounds like you're just talking about the RNG spitting out different artifacts due to reloading a save from before said artifact was finished.  Although all artifacts get at least one adornment of the base material, indiscriminately.  If it isn't then there is a bug, but a different bug.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Proper English will make people take you more serious.
In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.

Well... now that you mention it... v-p-l on a dwarf and scroll down to the "other jobs" and hit enter.

Bingo. Alchemy.
Their idea of alchemy is making soap.

The transmutation of mule fat into a stone of magical cleanliness?  If that isn't alchemy, it must be witchcraft!

On topic:  the closest I've had to wierdness is a glass goblet turning into glass bracelets when being studded with billon.  Nothing to worry about.

There seems to be some sort of wide-reaching bug involving iron bodyparts.

Fairly well known since the materials change in .31, bone and shell legendaries become "iron" in name. There are a couple other bugs related to the new material system as well, such as stone blocks being considered "metal" of their specific material for stockpile purposes (e.g. a rock bauxite block is listed under Blocks: Metal, Bauxite with a Bar/Block stockpile).

Edit: Failed to recognize the thread already had numerous replies, so I imagine someone already pointed out what I have done.
