Wait, you guys were 14 in eighth grade?! I'm a 13 y old freshman   :-\.

Let's see.  It's 2010 and I'm a sophomore in college, and 20... so I was 18 when I graduated high school and 14 when I started.

That means I was 13/14 in eighth grade, yeah.  Probably has to do with birth dates, though... I was born in January.

I started high school at 13 and will graduate sometime between 15 and 17, depending on how well this over-the-summer-test-taking-for-credits thing works out. If it works properly, I can test out of 12 or more credits' worth of classes.

Quite the opposite here. Going into my sophomore year at 14 made everyone think I should have been in 8th grade or something. I've grown 6 inches in the past six months.

It would not be a good idea to think that a 14 year old girl would be anywhere close to how I was at 14.
That was when I really starting becoming a nihilistic optimist, but just before becoming a cynic.
I questioned the values of everything, and created my own moral base that still stands today.
I was also a pyromaniac with a few psychopathic tendencies.
Still a pyro, but not psycho anymore.
I should also mention that I am and always have been an ineffectual loner.
As hard as I try to be alone, I always have friends crowding around me.

I'm 18, my GF's 28. A bit backward from your situation, and different in other ways as well, I'm sure. She's a bit immature for her age, and I'm more mature than usual for my age, so we meet in the middle so to speak.

One mutual acquaintance thought I was ~22 and she was ~17 ;D

The parents (she still lives with hers and I mine) aren't terribly fond of the situation, but they're accepting.

SPEED-EDIT: We've been together for a bit more than a year now.

Man, I'm probably not more than 5 years older than most of you, but half the kids were dating/shagging at 13-14 in 8th & 9th grade. I fully expect people to say it's weird for a 22 y/o to date a 20 y/o in 80 years.

OTOH, I do live in California, the bankrupt hippy state.

She's got a not-so-great job a couple cities over, can't afford to move out.

I'm still in college.

Damn, I shouldn't have boldly thrown caution to the wind. At least not so early. I still have two days to get through, and that's time for second thoughts to creep in.

I still don't know how old the OP is.

Anyway, I met my current girlfriend when I was 16 and she was 14, and that's went okay. Then again, she is a good mixture of clever and immature, and I doubt there's anyone QUITE like her.

So, try it, OP ( unless she's like 12, because that's pretty creepy ), and if it doesn't work out then you know what to do.

Shoot up the school.

I also live in California, and hell, I live in SF, the hippiest city short of Berkeley. And, uh, maybe you went to a school in a really weird area, because....damn. 8th grade?
