[0.31.01] Hospitals using adamantine strands for suturing
« on: April 04, 2010, 05:12:28 pm »

Title says it all, if I dump thread inside the hospital coffers the dwarves will also prioritise adamantine strands over other, more plentyful types of thread.

I care about decent dwarfcare but this is taking the piss :P

Thats an interesting theory, but after extensive testing I have found that recieving adamantine sutures to the skull does not in fact make a dwarf glow or otherwise exhibit awesome new qualities.

I wonder how many stitches a dwarf can get.
Imagine being completely covered in adamantine threads.
Also sutures absorb damage?

As cool as it is to fix dwarves with adamantine.
I just spent 4 adamantine cloth and 5 threads on a miner who had an accident, and the sucker died of an infection. Way to go The most expensive corpse ever.

Is there a way to block hospitals from using my adamantine stuff?

cheers

Try forbidding the threads and cloth till it's needed by a proper crafting station. Requires a bit more micro and you still run the risk that once its claimed the doc will run and grab it.

I eagerly await steampowered limbs for my fallen heroes crafted of the finest adamantine, Urist could use one to replace that arm he lost in the last raid...

This is a adamantine Mechanical arm. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest level. It menaces with spikes of turtle shell. Inscribed in yellow diamond is Urist mcdwarf the dwarf and goblins. Urist Mcdwarf is clutching a stump, the goblins are holding Urist Mcdwarf's left arm. This engraving relates to the removal of Urist Mcdwarf's left arm in 3rd obsidian 1057 during an ambush.

just deny adamantine in the stock pile you have for the hospitle and if you can't do that (I haven't played much with the hospital and havent yet found adamtine) then you could just change the int or raw if possible so adamtine can't be used medically.  I could be totally of track here but i am just throughing ideas out trying to spark something that works.

Urist McAustin, fisherman. A dwarf barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic dwarf. Urist McAustin will be that dwarf. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

What I always do is I make a "vault" stockpile.. a room with a locked door/raised bridge/whatever and a custom stockpile with the stuff I want saved.

Anyway it'll take some micro to save it. But I guess that's how it should be.

(I help them with law stuff and filing basics forms, as claws, tentacles and whatnot can make that difficult... no forms no benefits, travel coverage, ect apparantly in this world *sigh*).

Would be a proper workaround.
But: adamantine cloth and thread is nowhere to be found in the stockpile options.

Admit it. You're a Forum AI that gained sentience.

Haha.  That NTTRCKR thing didn't work, though... the new forum search engine decided not to index it.  Except now it is working for some reason!  Cool, maybe I'll mark some other threads now.
