Mining skill up...really?
« on: April 04, 2010, 12:26:03 am »

my militia commander gained some skill in mining(up to competent) just from killing a kobold with a pick

this was apparently so epic that my engraver has engraved it several times with the big part of the mural being that he did it with a copper pick o.O

now he wont leave the pick alone if its ever unforbidden(but he isnt attached to it yet)

...dwarfs are crazy

This fixes my difficulties with the new military screen. I'll just designate the gobbos for mining.

his mining skill was awesome enough to be engraved a few dozen time....righ up there with him becoming militia commander and losing the rank in the same year(game seems to recognize that i had to disband and reform the squad several times...)

Has anyone tried going at a bronze colossus with a skilled, armored miner and a pick yet?

That's a little frightening considering the game (at least for me) has yet to leave the Age of Myth

If you hit a dwarf with moving water with sufficient strength it will knock the baby out of the mother's arms.  The water can then be used to sweep the baby into a well or cistern for drowning.  The device which does this can also double as a mist generator.

Yea, I have YET to generate a world that stops when 80% of Megabeasts are dead, it always ends at 1050 (default ending year). Going through the legends of a Bronze Colossus who has survived since year one, it has over 10,000 kills and is still alive. YIKES

As far as I can tell, it's not any slower than in 40d.
Though perhaps your FPS is not as high, so it seems to be slower?
