Stone as a component of dwarfven bread.
« on: March 04, 2008, 08:10:00 am »

Hey,  I was thinking about the food side to DF and i thought it may be a good idea if u can make a second kind of food that never goes off.  These could be some kind of iron ration that is a mix of wheat and stone or iron.  I was thinking that they would give no bonus to the happiness to the dwarfs but the never goes off part could be usefull.  U could have a seperate section for them under the food stockpile mnu so that u are able to store them seperatly and u would be able to allow / forbid there consumption so that u are able to build a stockpile of them which in an emergency u would be able to use to sustain your dwarfs over a period of adversity.  Or they could take up a small amount of space so your soldiers are able to carry more than 2 meals worth of food with them on there travels.

You're typing on a computer, not a cell phone.  I think you can afford to type out "you".

And then you'll eventually have a legendary artifact dwarven bread: "The Scone of Stone". Amirite?

I agree with Sowelu.  It's time to be elitist and demean this guy until he leaves.

Hey dummy, you're a dummy!  Ooh, face!

Real-life iron rations had absolutely no iron in it at all, unless you consider the iron in the meat, but still:

quote:
The so-called 'Iron Ration' comprised an emergency ration of preserved meat, cheese, biscuit, tea, sugar and salt carried by all British soldiers in the field for use in the event of their being cut off from regular food supplies.

The Iron Ration in 1914 was as follows:

   1 lb. preserved meat
   3 oz. cheese
   12 oz. biscuit
   5/8 oz. tea
   2 oz. sugar
   1/2 oz. salt
   1 oz. meat extract

And eating stone /metalic ores... Simply has no nutritional value what-so-ever.

Terry Pratchett is not a model on which to base Dwarf Fortress.

Ever.

Dwarf Fortress is the model on which Terry Pratchett can base his crazy wacked out stories like how Boatmurdered gets.

Dwarves in Warhammer do.

 :D

By the way, if the iron rations are for emergencies, why is there space for tea?

As you journey to the center of the world, feel free to read the death announcements of those dwarves that suffer your neglect.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

This suggestion is completely ridiculous. A more appropriate food would be the cram of Middle-Earth.

Also, pay attention when you are at the University.
