hey not to spam but i'm having a major problem with dwarf fortress right now, it's kind of (ok, really) off topic but i'm eager to play.  My labor menu under the "view unit" thing is completely messed up, it only gives me 4 sub-menus - mining, healthcare, hauling, and other jobs.  This basically means that I can't play...any ideas?

only four? try clicking on them, they should open up into multiple menu's.

I tried that, and it opens up the relevant subtopics under those categories, but I still can's cut wood, brew, plant, or do any of those basic things besides mining, healthcare, hauling, alchemy, and architecture, so I have no source of food or anything

Urgh my dwarf just slashed a trolls arm off completely... WITH A SILVER CRAPPY PEICE OF SHIT SWORD!

You dwarves usually start with the superior stats because of his weapons skills, at least thats what I heard. My current adventurer has just about slaughtered his entire civilization (I think?) with over 300 kills. His only injury is his right ear which was shot off before I had a proper helmet. Most of his strength, agility, toughness, etc. is "superhuman" and he is a multi-legendary 'fighter' and a legendary axe lord. He also has a pretty decent throwing skill because I took every corpse from one of the towns and threw them into the temple pool =)

This makes adventure mode easier =o
Though, it could be because you're intended to adventure down below....
