Any one else recieving drastically less migrants. I've had two migrant waves, for a grand total of 4 dwarves combined.

No, I think the cook would be in charge of sugar-coating the cows.

You are a lifesaver! Round and probably in tropical flavors.

20 dwarfs on my first immigration and 8ish came in the next season.

I heard that building roads at the edge of the map increases the chances of migrants
what's up with that?

I hope migrants have been reduced. Building bedrooms got annoying when I had fifteen more dwarves pop up and make me build even more.

I like steady growth rather than exponential.

Might be coincidental; building roads increases fortress wealth.

Personally, I'd rather have less, better skilled immigrants than hundreds of useless arrow-catching peasants.

Kudos to new system :)

Two possibilities-It really did get decreased, or that you need more wealth to get more migrants now.

I'm getting a lot of smaller waves earlier than in 40d. It's actually pretty helpful (for me) early on since I'm finding it hard to get an embark group that can get everything up and running.

What I don't like about this is getting weird profession combonations.
Like a milker and a mechanic, just doesn't make sense.
But I like how there's more skilled migrants instead of just regular ones.

Ive had the exact opposite problem. I have had 10-20 dwarf migrations twice or three times a year.
I have 82 dwarves, and Im only finally getting proper workshop space set up inside my fortress. Thats not counting the 30-40 deaths ive had that do NOTHING to stem the tide of immigration.

The only problem I'd have with that is the need to build graves for those dwarves.

...Then again, I could try that above-ground graveyard...

I get more several small groups (~7) instead of huge ones (~20). They start coming as soon as the first summer, too.
