Quote from: Akanus the peasant
Gather again.

Attempt: 48

As you step out into the ocean in your Enviro-suit, you wander about for ten minutes until you realize that you forgot to refill your oxygen tank overnight, in your euphoria over the giant clam you found. You cut your journey short, having been forced to return to The Maia.

Quote from: Markus the Trader
Gather some sand from the ocean floor.
Attempt: 66-10 = 56
Quality: 9
Quantity: 60-9 = 51

You take a lovely... midnight? Midday? You're not really sure, but you take a lovely stroll over the ocean floor. You keep an eye out for sand, but all you manage to find is a bunch of biological mass, in the form of molluscs. Many molluscs in fact. After a day of gathering where you didn't find any suitable sand, you return to the ship with 51 molluscs, some of them alive.

+9 gathering influence
+51 Molluscs (Possibly alive) !Base Influence: 9!

Quote from: Mart the crafter
I will take a chunk of the metal and make some jewelry, specifically earrings.

Taking a bar of greenish-purple metal, you find it to be easily malleable and start hammering it into shape. Your skills are finally rewarded at the end of the day, when you find yourself standing with a pair of greenish-purple earrings of an unknown metal (presumeably containing copper). Though not the greatest feat of crafting, you have a feeling that despite its quality, it will be in great demand throughout the universe.

Attempt: 53+20 = 73
Quality: 13
Base Influence: 95+13 = 108

+108 Crafting influence
+1 pair of greenish-purple Earrings !Base Influence: 108!

Quote from: Oddix the peasant
I drop the foul ooze and 3 units of sand into group storage. My fellows may use either as they see fit.
I claim a pine log and craft it into pearlash (with the skill furnace operating, I hope?)
Attempt: 22

You keep on yourself a single unit of white sand, dropping the remainder into the ship's warehouse, along with the ambergris. You then move down to Engineering, where the furnaces that keep the ship and workshops running are located. With a pine log in your hand, you set to work towards turning it to ash, so that you might extract the salts from it. Unfortunately, you never find out how to get the furnace doors open, so you never get any work done.

+22 Furnace operating

To group storage:
-1 Piece of Ambergris !Base influence: 97!
-White Sand (3 units) !Base influence: 46!

Quote from: Xanthian
Claim a pine log.

Make a sword out of the technetium, using the pine log as the handle.

Attempt: 62+20=82
Quality: 99
Base Influence: 34+99+23(Tc Bar) = 156

You grab a pine log from the group storage, fashioning into a simple handle, as you work the Technetium metal with pride. It shouldn't work and no mere mortal would be able to craft a sword similar to this, but you are no mere mortal. You are Xanthian, and you will craft this Technetium sword. After a long, hard days work, you are finished and hold in your hand a sword worthy of a space pirate.

Quote from: Wartin
Take the plank and try again.

Attempt: 79-10=69
Quality: 34
Base influence: 32+34=66

Taking the plank of pine wood you created by accident yesterday, you combine your knowledge of shipwrighting with your love for crafting and through that wonderful combination, you soon find yourself working steadily throughout the day. At the end of the day, the plank of wood has, through industrious hands, been turned into a novel yacht, fit for sailing on a quiet lake.

It don't work that way Scotty!

I will take 10 mollusks and pull their collective life force out to form a ball of energy.

Heh, nearly decided to go gathering, til I realized that had a 10% chance of me not coming back.  :-[

Forge remaining block of stone into a large sphere with waves and depictions of my labors all across its surface. (yes, I'm aware my labors so far are primarily hugging a clam)

Edit

as a note, creating a green gemstone from glass should be doable in one action, breeding animals to make something from nothing, is not. Or at least shouldn't be. >< gotta remember this isn't my game thread, heh

Make a glass gemstone.

This is mildly confusing as to what I can and cannot do in one turn.

You'd have to ask Lidhuin to be sure, but from Haika's version, it seems you can combine things in generally any way you wish; so for instance, you don't have to fashion wood into a hilt and THEN combine it with a blade, you just take wood and metal and go for it. Going from sand to a gemmed sword probably wouldn't be an issue.

You cannot, however, craft something out of nothing, even using something as a "tool." Breeding mollusks means taking mollusks and then using, but not expending, them to create more mollusks, similar to taking a wood log and then making it into several duplicate logs. That's no good. Now, if you feed your mollusks something to get them to breed, you're crafting food into mollusks, which is fine, at least in principle. Feeding wood to wolves to get salamanders might not fly; then again, you are a demigod.

I am kidding of course.
