Seriously, I am being menaced by a giant snowball. Unfortunately it hasn't found its way to the explored regions of the caverns and I didn't take a picture of the initial announcement.

Now that I think of it, I suspect the "X has stopped being enraged" might indicate it melted before I ever got to see it.

Looking up legends I found a quadruped made out of steam that shot webs.

Looking through the legends of the first world I generated, I found a forgotten beast, a giant spider made out of coal, that had fire breath. I would have loved to see that

Well, this creature is still in the Underworld, but, damn! What an awesome name!

Akon Rusmo Xan, "Akon the Echo of Oblivion"
Akon the Echo of Oblivion was a forgotten beast. It was the only one of its kind. A great humanoid composed of water. It has a broad shell and it has a bloated body. Beware its poisonous vapours! Akon was associated with suicide and caverns.

In a time before time, Akon began wandering the depths of the world.

I've had a couple attack my fortress so far:

Zemri Surkul
A great feathered dimetrodon. It has a long, spiral horn and it squirms and fidgets. Beware its deadly spittle!

He killed a dog, then started a fight with one of my cougars. He dodged into my waste disposal chute, over 100z levels deep, partially filled with magma. His horn was the first to burn away. The rest of him followed in short order.

Radir Necarothri Sotasiga
A great scaly snail. It has thin wings of stretched skin and it has a gaunt appearance. Its dark olive scales are round and set far apart. Beware its poisonous vapors!

He got into my food storage, killed a wardog, farted at a soldier, then had his body chopped of. I don't know how you chop somebody's body off, but I'm guessing in a snail's case, it meant the shell housing its body.

A gigantic, flying, scaly, leech. That breathes fire.

A giant, purple chinchilla. Somehow, it's just not intimidating. I didn't know chinchillas were even in the game.

The Odd:
Důstik, an ocean titan. It's a giant mite with a square shell and webs.
The Fearsome:
One Necroburies the Dead Funeral, a mongoose brute. Large, scaly, spouts gibberish and hungers for warm blood.
The Damaging:

Me. What have my foul hands wrought!?


Edit: Ok, the common mongoose seems to have some... tendencies.
Ngotol Boneashes the Dead Burial of Skulls, a mongoose brute. And these guys are associated with suicide.

A giant, purple chinchilla. Somehow, it's just not intimidating. I didn't know chinchillas were even in the game.

Well, that's no ordinary rabbit! That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer! He's got huge, sharp-- eh-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!

Tuthid, Forgotten Beast

A towering honeyeater with external ribs. It has a pair of long antennae and it undulates rhythmically. Its dark tan feathers are long and sparse. Beware its fire!

Vathi Profaneseduced the Subordinate Terrors was a moose fiend.  She was one of the only ones of her kind.  A huge moose twisted into humanoid form with lidless eyes.  It undulates rhythmically.  Its ivory hair is long and wavy.  Beware its webs!

Vathi was associated with jealousy.

In fact, she's gone on to do some great things, including waging a 2000 year long turf war with the nearby human empire as leader of The Spidery Spiders!  According to Legends mode, she still resides at The God-forsaken Palace in Breathterrors, but I visited in Adventure mode and couldn't find her.  Just a lot of child prisoners and adult humans doing menial tasks.
