My Pet Surgeon
« on: April 02, 2010, 09:22:22 pm »

You know, I was getting so frustrated with the game, the miltary drving me into actual violence against things like pillows- but then something happened that made me forgive all the bugs. the elves arived, and in their baggae for me was a tamed Tigerman surgeon. I'm so pleased. I've set him up on display in my hospital.

Well, that certainly beats my Tigerman Hunter.  Who died of thirst not too long after I got him.

Are caged animals supposed to be able to die of thirst or starvation now?  Is it because Tigermen are sentient?

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?

Huh, my latest visit from the elves resulted in Tigermen Bone Doctor, Surgeon, Woodcrafter, and Herbalist.

What is the strange relationship between elves and Tigermen that results in trained Tigermen being up for trade?  Why only Tigermen?

They are actually secret tigerman agents, serving the elven empire. Trained from birth for infilitration, sabotage and assasination duties. They will collect and send information to the elves regarding your military strength, traps and weapons. When the elves decide to attack with force, the tigermen will then begin their plan to cause mayhem and destruction inside the fortress, assasinating key military personnel, major leaders, and roalty while disarming traps you have set.
And before you know it, your dwarves will be speaking elvish and tigerman.
I would advice extreme caution.

Atleast that's my theory  :P

animalmen die in cages, they need to be released and then they will live off your food and drink.

It would be great to set up a battle arena pitting enslaved surface animalmen against captured underground ones. Since one is a friendly and one is a hostile, it should work out well.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.

Well, do these animalmen do any work? Novelty value does not last very long.
