Does anyone know if raising the min population for Titan attack helps civs survive longer?  Or does it only affect fortress mode games?

I think it only affects fortress mode. If you want civs to survive in a world of 1000 titans, I'd suggest setting the end year for world-gen to 2. (Because you can't set it to 1 for some reason.)

Increasing the date at which the game checks for megabeasts will also help civs survive a wee-bit longer.

I figure that there will be another 'World of traps and Attractions'. What would be some good world_gen parameters for a world that exists purely for adventurers and fortresses made for adventurers?

Probably want high contrast in altitude, plus heavy rain, lots of minimum rivers, and low drainage (does that affect rivers?  I think maybe it does...).  Plus lots of vulcanism for volcanoes magma.**  This way you'd get big rivers and hopefully some nice waterfalls.

Adding more caves,as you can tell from previous posts, is perhaps not such a good idea.  More than say 300 non-mountain caves seems to wipe out humans and elves, and large numbers of mountain caves wipe out gobbos and dwarfs.  Or so it would seem.

Maybe you could tweak cavern settings, which would make bigger or more interesting caverns.

**Except vulcanism parameter is kind of broken right now- it affects geological levels but not volcanoes/surface magma (which is determined by the minimum volcanoes parameter).

It seems like the closest I can get and still have all the races is more of a heck world.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh well it makes pretty interesting maps with a couple long major rivers lots of pockets of evil and all the races usually.

I'm still wondering if it's possible to make a map that is hot enough to spontaneously combust everything outside during summer but doesn't during winter.

I'd love to play a world like this. Sheer cliffs in the middle of desert wasteland? Yes please. For the worldgen-challenged, what numbers could I plug in to make a small world of this type that would be easier on my computer? Also, one with less z-levels between the surface and caverns?

if I got it correct these variables should be the once regulating cavern debts
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_GROUND:1]
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_1:1]
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_2:1]
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_3:1]
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_4:1]
   [LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_5:1]
   [LEVELS_AT_BOTTOM:1]

I'm too tired to look through all these parameters you set there, so I ask: How does your underground look? How many caverns does it have? Because I generated some worlds with the parameters from this post, and i love the fact that you have to dig down just 20 levels to find the magma sea (but a second cavern wouldn't hurt either).

Well for my underground there are three cavern layers.  They are pretty wide open with pools or lakes in them.

I'm just tinkering around with this stuff and I'm not an expert or anything but:

[LEVELS_ABOVE_GROUND:55]      <--- This is levels of sky above the top level of outside ground

[LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_1:10]      <---This is levels above first cavern but it might end up more than 10

The rest of the LEVELS_ parameters  are the same as vanilla world gen in mine.
