Can someone explain how water pumps actually give pressure to water? I'm trying to create ice traps on a freezing tundra and I'm utterly confused as to how to start.

Will trolls rebel against my animal haulers if I assign them to a pit? They came with a siege and got snagged by cage traps.

Sand bags are under "furniture," and aren't in any of the submenus. They're along the bottom of the screen. "u" I think to turn them on or off.

Hi : )

A possessed dwarf (gem cutter) with a strange mood claimed a jeweler's workshop and "... keeps muttering for Anirimsal".

I got no idea what he wants... any ideas? Thank you

Water in a U-bend (down, across and back up) will normally only rise at the output end to one level less than the source end. If you pressurize it with a pump, it will rise to a level equal to the source end (instead of one level less than that).

It's the name of the artifact he's making.  He has all the materials, you just need to wait and see what he makes now.

My wounded militia captain is "resting" in his own bed, and no one seems to be interested in taking him to the hospital. Thus, the doctor won't diagnose or treat him. Any way to jump start this?

EDIT: I took away his bed, then someone helped him to the hospital.

Is there any way to make it so that the pet population is evenly spread within the fort, instead of some piss-stained smelly dwarf taking every single pet of a species?

Seriously, my gem cutter has a horde of monkeys and gibbons following him wherever he goes.

Mod them to be war-trainable, train them into war animals, and then assign them manually.  You can't force dwarves to adopt non-trained animals.

Or you can pasture them.
