How does everyone train their masons? I haven't gotten any luck with getting masons from immigrants, and I've trained two dwarves to proficient masonry so far by building extra armorstands/weaponracks to trade to passing caravans. After my stockpiles (of 200 something) were filled, I ordered them to build blocks but now that stockpile is overfilling into the workshops.

My Terracotta army of dwarves must be finished!

Blocks. Use the blocks to build massive stone walls/towers/etc outside.

Where the hell did all this lag come from? This was a brand-new fort!

List some common lag causes so I can figure out what's going on, plz?

Also, Miasma. You have a fancy weapon in your z->stocks menu?

No fancy weapons. It was going smooth as butter when I started that fort this afternoon, and I usually start on rivers. My other active fort has two natural waterfalls, fifty dwarves and two dozen animals, and is moving faster.

I have a titan in a cage, an nowhere near enough of an experienced army to use the bastard for training. The longer he stays here the more likely fun will be had so I want to sell him. Is there a way to do this without having Urist McFuturepancake carry away the cage to set a giant angry beast free in my fortress?

Girlinhat: The biggest issue seems to be size.  A 1x1 room would allow for maximum child desecration.

Will a well allow water to fall into it? Like a waterfall into well type deal. Without messing with any dorfs that may be nearby, or trying to draw water?

Can ballista arrowheads get destroyed when fired into enemy ranks along with the ballista projectile?

princess is the elven general but s/he doesnt do much in the current version of DF.

It means you have some elves that are a little more tolerable than most, their leaders dress funny and get hammered daily, like dwarf kids.

The whole thing gets trashed. Which is why Ballistas are toys for rich fortresses.

A well is a hole in the floor with some fancy stuff around it.  Water will fall through the hole if there is a lack of 7/7 water in the space below it.  (See Flow for details.)

Water can indeed push a dwarf into a hole, so you generally don't want to have dwarves (or other valuables) anywhere near the hole if you're letting water flow into it.

Hello, how do i make my dorfs butcher sentient thingies? Which raw i should edit and what line in there? I really want some eleven thongs.

Only in DF do you get discussions of how to genocide babies and children because they take up resources, slaughter merpeople for their bones, eat raw kitten meat, and set carefree, happy elves on fire.

Is someone keeping track of all these?
