do invading enemies with ranged weapons have a limited amount of ammo? if so cant you just put a pet behind 6 layers of fortifications somwhere so they waste all their ammo trying to shoot it and are then meat sheilds?

Yeah, a ranged goblin normally has 35 arrows/bolts iirc. I doubt the layers of fortifications do a good job at stopping arrows tho, but don't take my word for it.

If I build paved roads over constructed flooring (which I just found out is possible), can I then build a statue over that?

Something you might type in a German language class if you were stupid and playing some kind of text tag, I guess.

No.  Roads are a building.  You can't build one building (a statue) on a space occupied by another building (a road).  You can build buildings on top of constructions (floors) but not on other buildings.

Thanks. Will the road morph around placed statues like it does walls, trees, etc?

edit: I'd test this myself if my noble would manage her work orders. Organized, pfft...

No. Roadbuilding isn't as smart as farmbuilding, for some reason.

Thanks. Ok! One more question, how do I determine a roads value when trying to attract a king?

I wish I would have thought about these all at the same time. Been playing all day and my brain is fried.

edit: I found it!
Code: [Select]
noble screen -> c :  Becoming the CapitalI need 6k more in road wow

I believe the formular is (material value)*(item value)*(archtect value + construction value). If you assume the worst of archtect & construction value, and you use common, rough stones, then a 1-stone road has a value of 1*3*2 = 6 so you need 1000 units of road constructions. On the other hand if you try to make masterwork architect & construction, using diamond blocks then a 1-stone road has a value of 60*5*14 = 4200 and you'd need only 2 of them.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but this thread is... extensive.

1. The init files state that a Monarch is possible at 80 population, yet the wiki says 140 population.  Which (if either) is true?

2. The init files also say that some "current game features" require at least 100 population.  What exactly are those features?

3. What "features" aren't possible if you, say, cap at 80?

I'm aware that these are pretty flexible numbers (I'm capped at 100 right now and I've got 112 beards), but I'm curious about what exactly you miss out on if you go lower.

I think monarch requires 120 population along with a bunch of other requirements, such as 5k offerings to dwarf caravans.
The 'current game features' just refers to the nobles (baron, duke, count). A bunch of other nobles are bugged right now.

There's no big loss of features if you cap population at 80. I cap mine at 40 and still have enough fun.

... formular ...
I once had a math teacher with an accent that would pronounce 'formula' this way.  ::)

When my dwarf examination says "ate in a legendary dining room recently" does that seriously mean that I have a legendary dining room?

Because I really don't have a legendary dining room.

It has eight crappy tables eight crappy chairs a couple doors and two or three statues in a 10 by 10 space. Its dug out of soil, for goodness sake. its a temporary hole in the ground. And they really think its legendary?

I also need help understanding what the barracks means when it says "indiv equip" and "squad equip." when you select the barracks building it has those options and I don't know what they do.

He think's it's a great room. It's based on perception and quality of life.
Watch a king think of that as a "complete sh*t room*
