they will haunt you, and you can't bury them. slabs might not work due to a bug, either.

When I got bored with trading I just removed the active season tags from dwarves, humans and elves, and I think I'm going to run my next fortress like that from the start.

Is there a way to dump body parts? My dwarves will feed all the goblins clothes and weapons to the atom smasher, but not the thumbs, horns, corpses and assorted pieces of foe.  :-[

You're speaking of entity_defaults, yes? Wouldn't that only affect a new world?

Yes and it works in an already running world as well, you just have to put those changes into the relevant region's raw folder.

Are you sure about this? The last time I had a dead elven caravaner, (playing as dwarves) I carved him out a neat little tomb, and I am pretty sure his his body was stuffed in there.

You can carve a slab for ANY intelligent creature that has died on your map. No exceptions.

In 40d when you change key bindings it gives you the option to add bindings but it doesn't say anywhere how to remove a binding, does anyone know how? I tried all the letter and numerical keys.

I heard your like sieges so I put a Goblin fortress in your fortress so you could siege while besieged.

Body parts should be dumped like anything else.
Are they forbidden, or outdoors?

I never really made armor before because, well, I usually rely on traps, I guess.

Anyway, in my succession game (check sig), it's year one and I got a freakin' High Master Armorsmith, and I want to make the most of him. I have steel. What kinds of armor should I make (ie what protects where the most)?

Get chainmail and plate for the upper body, I usually use greaves or leggings but not both, but that's your choice.
For limbs, gauntlets, helms, and high boots. Low boots of you don't have access to high boots.
I also suggest giving everyone a leather/cloth robe or dress, as this protects everything.

Are greaves or leggings better?

Also do I need to make two gauntlets/boots per dwarf or are two produced in an order?

I think they're on par with each other. If not, greaves are probably better.

Producing gauntlets/boots makes a matching pair.

Sometimes merchants cannot be engraved, and reclaim ghosts can never be engraved or buried, making them permanent.
