If I obsidianize my trade depot, will I have to rebuild the trade depot?
In other words what happens if I pour magma and water onto it.. :D

it gets destroyed, duh.
other than that it deconstructs and either melts (think non-mamga-safe rock) or leaves "presents" when you come back.

I suggest just flooding it, the elves bring cloth that's not magma-safe  ;D

I don't think that there's still an artifact number/mood limit in the current version. My fort has over 40 artifacts and is still churning out (mostly useless, a gneiss piccolo yeah) moods.

Chance of getting a mood is dependent on how much area you have excavated. If you keep digging mineshafts and carving out the caverns you'll have more frequent artifact moods - conversely if you don't dig and only build aboveground structures you'll have fewer/infrequent moods.

There are more moods in a DF2010 game compared to 40d because with all the new layers there's much much more potential area to dig.

yes
animals currently reproduce by spores and thus 1 male is enough for 2 females. I had 1 male dog with 15 females just for kicks...

two pairs will start up a breeding programme yeah.  Check the raws of the creature in question to find how long it takes to mature, for most animals its a year i think, though some may be less (notable exceptions are elephants at 10 years and dragons at 1000!)

As soon as you have the pairs the females should get pregnant (breeding by spores), you then need to wait for births to start arriving.  Once you got some goat offspring (kids) then you can always butcher the original stock if you need something in a hurry, it'll just delay your program till the next generation matures.  Not butchering them is preferable though, from my experience theres no 'down-time' between birth and the ability to become pregnant again, this is hard to prove as pregnancy is not announced but after a few years you start to notice the gestation period (time between pregnancy and birth).  This means that often an animal can produce a second litter of offspring before their first reaches maturity

Such programmes have a tendancy to start a little slow, but after maybe two years you will usually have more than enough animals to meet your needs.

I usually only have 2 males maximum, like in the wild you only need 1 and a big herd of females for breeding but its always smart to hang onto a second incase you lose the male.  (otherwise you find yourself again waiting for an animal to mature to restart the breeding)

A somewhat heroic Spear-human succumbed, in mêlée, to multiple crossbowgoblins and now I'm wondering if he'll be buried in my coffins? I'd like him to be. (Also, the first one to die in ambush was a pack-donkey  :'( )

Even if its made from magma-safe materials?
But flooding it makes mud :/ which makes the bridges surrounding it go all brown :L Unless I immedietly pump it out but then my trade depot still looks bad, also last time I experimented with this my FPS dropped, could be coincidence but I don't want to ruin this fort :S

it works basically the same as caveins but it keeps magma-safe stuff... so the depot deconstructs as if from a cavein but... anyone wanna try this?

p.s. do seasonal autosaves and backups ;)

I think you can make a slab him, but not sure about burial. Make a slab and put it at his corpse maybe?

Non-dwarf, non-civilization members will never be buried in your coffins.  I don't know if you can make a memorial slab for him.

Are the items outside?  Turn collection of outside refuse on by pressing 'o', 'r', 'o'.

You can make slabs for humans like the caravan guard. As they have no names (unless they killed enough enemies to get a title) it will be an option looking like engrave memorial to .
It will show his lifespan but nothing else.
