That may not have been entirely clear. Pressure works oddly in DF. One artifact of this is that creatures and objects can get squeezed through fortifications (it can happen to land based creatures such as goblins) if the pressure is flowing the right way.

Couple of important defense questions:
-wiki says that aquatic creatures can swim through fortifications(but land creatures can't walk though them? makes no sense but hey it's DF). Question is; how much liquid must be present? Does it have to be 7/7 on either side or will a simple 1/7 puddle suffice?
7/7 water will let them swim through.  Creatures can't swim in less than 4/7, but if the water is fluctuating it may push them through anyway.  1/7 will not let them pass through.

Raising drawbridges have one edge that turns into a wall when they raise.  Anything which is on that edge will be crushed.  Anything which is on the rest of the bridge will be flung in a random direction.  If a creature above a certain size is standing anywhere on the bridge, the bridge will refuse to raise.

I would not trust that diagram.  I have not tested this, but I would expect an aquatic building destroyer to be able to destroy that floodgate anyway.

will dwarves meet in a memorial hall?
and when will migrants start coming again... I had 6 dead dwarves out of 16 (elven ambush in the 2nd year) and for a year now the fortress has attracted no migrants :(

Can raccoons and such annoying little varmints steal things if they're still in the wagon and the wagon hasn't been destroyed?

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

is he messed up beyond repair?  similar thing happened to one of my other miners, what causes this? how do they fall?  should i jsut kill him and start on a new miner or try to heal him(my first miner is in bad shape healing wise) i've never used a hospital before don't know how to heal them

i have seen videos of older versions where people can order their dwarves to not go outside, i have a massive attack and i want to do this, in the current version is this possible?

no, but you can create  burrows [w] everywhere safe (your whole fortress) and create an alert in the military screen and I realize I suck at explaining so someeone else has to do it but the answer is no but you can do something else with similar effect

Is a gear passable?  If I have a gear by my bridge, with a wall on the other side, will flying creatures be able to come in through the gear?  the windmill is directly above the gear

Very yes. I started in an area that to my great frustration had both buzzards and rhesus macaques...

If I limit my fortresses population to 50-60 will sieges/megabeasts still come?

I can't stand having 8 fps when my fortress has 100+ dwarves, but I still want something to fight.

I don't know about sieges, but mine have spawned ambushes, semi-megabeasts, and FBs in the caverns at 50 dwarves.
