Is it possible to designate specific items of furniture to encrust gems on? 'cause I've got four gold statues and soon I'll have some rubies and I'd love to combine the two. :D

Put the statues next to the workshop in a stockpile before giving the order to encrust furniture. I always have small stockpiles next to jewelers that only allow masterwork items. This ensures high quality items. :)

Oh, very nice, thank you. I'll give that a shot in a moment. The statues aren't masterful, but gold nonetheless. (And two of Erok the Droopiness of Slop, god of pregnancy and family. :P)

Edit; worked like a charm. A lot better than a charm actually, because it worked.

...Do vermin-hunters inevitably eat the poor little animals after you tame and make them available? Is there a work around for it, without chaining up/ caging the vermin-hunters (because I still want them to hunt the naughty vermin). I tried locking them (Foxes with vermin tag, playing as elves) in the pantry, but I think they have a tag that allows them to escape.

Super fast question: Is world regen needed if you change caste names? I'm adding in gender specific names to my animals to make it easier to cull them when needed. I just can't recall if I need to regen or not.

Something is wrong. When I go to create a second squad, I can't find the option anywhere. Is there a population requirement for squads?

You have to appoint a captain for the new squad.

How long should it be until some fun arrives? My force is all ready (I'm using Civ Forge, btw), I have wrought-iron equipped military dudes spoiling to use their new maces, a row of weapon and cage traps, and a bridge over a lava moat. It is year 53 and I am bored. All I have had is a couple of thieves of the zephyr variety.

I pierced the first cavern layer and all I found in there was a gremlin.

You either picked a bad spot (no access) or have a bad worldgen with everything dead.

I had a question about the Monarch of my civilization.

I've been a duchy for a year now, and I've fulfilled all the criteria for becoming the capital, the menu for it says so. Is there going to be an option for becoming the capital in the Diplomacy screen, like there was for electing a baron, or is the queen just going to show up one day?

EDIT: I do understand that I can't choose my queen, but am I going to be given an option screen for becoming the capital, or is this something that is going to happen as soon as the monarch arrives?
