if he really cant walk kill him, its the only reasonable thing to do as no dwarf wants to live forever in a bed. except maybe nobles but i always kill them. to make this stay on topic however i want to ask how i make my siege operator station at a balista.

make a burrow around there (burrows are accessed via [ w ]) and assign him to that burrow. And [ q ] over the ballista and set it to "fire at will".

Make sure to encompass the ammo area in the burrow too. ;)

What should I do with a Barghest(Goblin) prisoner?
I'm considering making a zoo with him as center piece.

Hello all again,

I don't understand how infections work.
From what I read on the forum and wiki, it appears it occurs on most non soap-cleaned wound; and ends up killing your dwarf.
But I had a few dwarves injured (and healed) before my soap industry was up and running; and I have no idea on how to remove their infection now that they are out of the hospital.
Secondly, I have a dwarf with an infected injury, but he was healed and cleaned with soap; what went wrong?

Finally, I have a dwarf laying in bed in my hospital with injuries to the foot (on the skin, fat and muscle; no nerve or bone damage, no infection), and who is not "very slow to heal". He's been resting on the bed for more than 2 years now after being healed succesfully and completely by a master doctor. From another thread, I read that multiple injuries to a foot seem to keep the dwarf in bed, but no solution was given. Does anybody know a surefire solution to this problem?

Hello anyone who sees this.

I want to download Dwarf Fortress but the problem is I don't know what to choose.
So, my question is: What is the difference between SDL and Legacy?

SDL has a vastly improved graphics engine. legacy is for computers that can't use the improvements. Gameplay is the same.

I want to download Dwarf Fortress but the problem is I don't know what to choose.
So, my question is: What is the difference between SDL and Legacy?

I went for the Lazy Newb Pack, and am happy with it. It has graphical tileset, and some tools, like Dwarf Therapist. http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59026.0

Other than that go for SDL. Improved graphics engine works even on my 7 year old Pentium 4, I just have to choose slow rendering method in .ini file.

Artifacts can't have additional decorations added.

Is the GCS web+cage trap the only way to catch Forgotten Beasts? I've tried breaking a bridge with it over a cage trap and that's not working.
