Ok so i have this pump operator thats pretty much been the mvp of my fortress.  One of my guys just recently made an artifact amulet.  Is there anyway to give it to the pump operator or to make sure hes the one who claims it?  Hes really the only guy worthy of owning an artifact imo.
I don't think dwarves can claim non-clothing or food items without the economy happening.

I have a possessed dwarf. He wants some metal... bars... (I have steel and iron) and cloth... thread... (have both silk thread and cloth). Why doesn't he take anything?
He may want a specific material, like silver of giant cave spider silk. Check his personality for things he likes. ([v]->[z]->[enter])

ive gotten in the habit of replacing my chief medical dwarf as soon as he gains any notable skill in diagnosis.
It's really funny watching them do unnecessary surgery because of a wrong diagnosis.
the conditions were bad enough to turn a dwarf who didn't care about anything mad, that's pretty hardcore.

Perhaps all your masons are all doing something else (sleeping, eating, drinking, taking a break, walling themselves in somewhere or making a slate bed menacing with blankets of cave spider silk cloth)?

Were they actually idling, or on a collective break?

But don't tiles that have been outside always stay outside?
So I have read from somewhere.
Another question popped into my head too. I was thinking of making as much energy with as little room as possible. Would this work?
Code: [Select]
W~W
W~W
W~W
WPW
WPW
W-W
W=Water wheel
P=Pump
~=Water on the same level
-=Water on the lower level
Maybe even add more water wheels to the row or make the water wheel rows double or triple?

Tiles which have been Aboveground/Light will always be Aboveground/Light, but tiles can go back and forth between Inside and Outside by building or removing a roof above the tile.

I see... Guess I got those mixed up. I edited my previous post too. If such a thing would work then I wouldn't need windmills.

You have to upload your picture to an image hosting service.
Try http://imgur.com/.
Then you can paste the forum code into your message.

Water wheels only connect horizontally in the middle of the longer sides. There were some great power stack ideas somewhere, but I can't remember where they were.
