How do I get my dwarves to have kids? I have some males and females, but capped my population at 0 (no migrants).

As far as I know, you just have to wait. Eventually some of them will pair up, get married, and then have kids.

Make a single-square meeting zone, and then give your dwarves lots of free time.  They will socialize in the meeting zone, become friends, and eventually get married.  Once they're married you can put them back to working non-stop, they'll somehow manage to pump out babies yearly despite not having a free moment.

I can't make high boots in .18. Why? What is the next best item?
Some dwarven civs cannot make them.
Try embarking with a different parent civ.

I'm trying to design my bedrooms for my dwarfs and make them fairly small. What items that might go in the proletariat rooms are impassable? I know statues are and beds aren't, but what about containers, tables, etc? The wiki is utterly unhelpful on this issue.

Chests/coffers, cabinets, beds, tables, chairs, armor stands and weapon racks are all passable.  Statues are impassible.  Pumps have one passable square and one impassable square.  Gears, levers, and axles are passable.  Workshops are a mixture of passable and impassable squares.  The central square of water wheels and windmills is impassable.

When reclaiming after a failed quadruple siege, (fortress defense mod) for how long will the invaders be friendly?  When will they suddenly decide they no longer like my dwarves and attack?  Or will they be a nice home guard until they are all ruthlessly slaughtered?

@spider silk;
You're better off taming a giant one, or importing silk.  I find normal cave spider silk to be a pain in the ass to farm.

Question: I have an injured dwarf in the middle of nowhere, outside my fort, he has a "broken" left foot. He cannot walk, therefore, is unable to return to the fortress to get to the hospital. Is there any way I can get him carried or something like that in order to heal him?
If he really cannot move, a dwarf with the "retrieve wounded" labor should retrieve them.
Just because they cannot walk does not mean they cannot crawl slowly to the hospital themselves.

He has "lost the ability to stand", as he has suffered "motor nerve damage". I don't think he can even crawl.
If I put a dwarf with only recover wounded labor enabled will he manage to do this asap or do I have to assign this job at the manager screen?
Also, is motor nerve damage still permanent?

Eventually a dwarf with the recover wounded job will get him, although in my experience they'll often ignore his cries for help until he passes out from pain/dehydration/blood loss/etc. Having a hospital with a free bed helps though.

is there a bug preventing bins from being used on reclaim?  my dwarves seem to be just throwing bins in the furniture stockpile and not using any for weapons/armor/ammo/finished goods/gems :/

You need to set the number of bins allowed in the other stockpiles to something higher than 0 (keys: c and v I believe) and anything left over from your previous fort will be forbidden.  You'll need to claim it through the stocks menu [z] or using [d]->->[c] to claim all items in an area.

I no longer see any magma forges or magma using buildings listed as being buildable, what's up with that?
