Damn, so unless I mod the game, I'm pretty much doomed to leather armor shits? Humans are op.
Play the Genesis mod :)
Dwarfs are badasses!

Not exactly doomed. It's just not so easy to find. I played a dwarf and had almost a full set of armor (without greaves and mail shirt).

Dwarves and elfs lack settelment layouts. So if you go to a mountianhome, there won't be any buildings or dwarves. Same for forest retreats. But the worldgen still takes them into account when calculating everything. You just can't meet them.
Is this new?
If so, which version did it start?
Because I regularly visited dwarven halls in .12.

How do you find Dwarven Halls?
Just search the outskirt of mountains.

I've visited a few mountain halls and could never find any dwarfs or entrances.

Do you guys/gals have any good tip for military? How do you divide Training/Duty scheduling? And the squads?

I have right now one squad with 10 Melee dwarfs, and one squad with 5 Ranged dwarfs. But I don't know how to distribute them so that I have like half the squad training and the other on duty. Do I have to get two squads of Melee dwarfs just to have one training and one on duty? And is it possible to train them to hard so they starve? :/

Yeah, I'm at a mountainhome, I just can't find the entrance. Is it going to be like the entrance to a lair, with a small opening in the side that's just wide enough for you to fit through?

It's going to not be. They aren't currently implemented. You need to change the raws to make dwarves have human-like towns, or you can't find them.

EDIT: and then you need to gen a new world, because changing entity raws requires that.

What does it take for the Recover Wounded job to activate?

Dwarves with the "Recover Wounded" job enabled, an injured dwarf who cannot walk, and no burrow orders preventing the rescuer from reaching the rescue-ee and the hospital.

I'm pretty sure you need to mod the game already, if you want to be able to shit leather armor.

So I embarked on an area that listed every type of civilization nearby, but I have only my home civ listed on the screen on-map. Are they still actually able to reach me and I just don't get to list them until I've spoken to them?

Civilizations don't appear on the 'C' screen until one of their units is on the embark site map somewhere.

The reason being it'd be a surprise which specific civ will come to you. Dwarven civ is known beforehand but elf, goblin and human's would be a curiosity even if you check out the border beforehand.

My question: Can i somehow make bogeymen spawn in fortress mode? As ambushers maybe?

Anyone know how to either make the screen larger or make it full-screen without it only occupying a small corner?
