In adventuremode, how do you unequip something like a sandal?
I've found that throwing it works quite well.

It's very easy top make up-ramps unusable.  I always leave a full tile of solid rock at the back and sides of them although that's probably overkill.

Dig another ramp up through solid rock somewhere for your dwarves to escape.  On the level where you can see the down ramp there doesn't need to be any support.

'r' = remove.

Check the "?" (manual) for all the keybindings.

In Adventure mode, how does biting works?

If I bite someone, and the attack "You latch on firmly" does that mean I should'nt attack him again? Or will I release my bite then?
And can I set so my adventurer allways bites? Instead of having to press 'shift + a' button every strike?
The same way as twisting your weapon in them.

ive got adamantine swords and spears, but do i make my axes adamantine too? or does the lightness make them useless
Axes use cutting attacks, so they should still be fine.
Don't know how well it works for spears though, so you're on your own there.

You press 'p' if you want to put a sandal into your backpack.

Just started playing DF2010, and I was playing around with the military orders a bit to see what I could do. Had my "defend burrow" and stationed them outside the base. Afterwards I set their schedules to just train year round and assigned the barracks bed to that squad with "t". But they are still guarding the outside of the base, just standing there starving themselves to death. How do I get them to stop?

EDIT: found it, I was busy looking for the answer in the schedules screen, but I had to go to the squad screen instead and cancel their station order.

Having some technical trouble.  I built a temporary stockpile underground on a new embark that I want to do away with.  I know the stockpile is still there.  I've checked with q and by trying to build stuff over it.  However when I bring up the stockpile menu and move the cursor over it, the x for remove option remains greyed out and unusable.  I've placed the cursor over every tile of the stockpile, tried designating and then removing a zone on top of it, and I can't figure out any kind of work around or nudge to get this to work again.  I've tried making another stockpile, and it also won't let me remove it.  I'm stumped.  Has this happened to anyone else?

The [ x] is never unusable. You have to: stock[p]ile, [ x], [enter], move over entire stockpile, [enter].

Removing stockpiles works like removing digging designations.  Press 'p' them 'x' then select the area of stockpile you want remove with enter.

if too many items are on an upward slope does it become blocked? my miners and refusing to use an upward slope, instead remaining trapped, also it says there is no access there..even though there clearly is

Not only does a ramp need supports, it needs to be accessible. If it enters from the north, it has to exit from the south, and if it enters from the south it has to exit from the north (someone has told me east/west ramps can be made, but I have yet to understand how).

Thanks!  Problem solved.  I'm sure I've done that before, but that knowledge must have been deleted in my sleep lastnight or something.

Hmm, I can talk to these shop owners just fine, but as soon as I move to a different part of the town, fast-traveling, no one will talk to me. What's going on?

-edit
strange indeed, it doesn't activate for just any of the tiles. The tile it activates on is the very edge of the village, and if I go back into the village no one will talk to me. I am confused.
-edit
I just tried leaving the village in a different direction, exited travel mode, went back into travel mode, went into the village, and everyone is now treating the legend that dumbstruck them just a moment ago as some kind of criminal. wtf?!

Maybe your civ is as war with their civ?

Or you could be involved in a loyalty cascade involving some of your followers.

How would I be able to tell? I'm in my homeland, and all of my followers are peasants from the nearby villages. How can I tell in either case, (what's a loyalty cascade?)?
