I keep getting dwarves who "admired a fine trap lately", but I have no traps in my fortress. I do have some levers and mechanisms- is this a known bug?

I've seen people reference stripping caged gobbos of their possessions many times, but I can't figure for the life of me how to do it?

Levers are built through the trap menu, so they likely count as traps. I may be wrong though.

There are two ways of stripping prisoners. You can pause, mass-dump (d-b-d) the tile, undesignate the cage (using k not mass-undump, this is VERY important)for dumping, and then unpause, meaning that all items in the cage are marked for dumping, or you can selectivley order all weapons and armor that is not yours dumped with the z-stocks.

Thanks! Seems to have worked. Now for the inhumane blood sports.

Also use d-b-c to claim as their inventory is forbidden by default.

And when we're not being attacked by Forgotten Beasts, there's probably a zombie whale crushing someone to death in the dining room."

I have no liquid water, all the ice I could ever want or need( not mined, I embarked in the middle of a glacier) and no magma. How do I melt all this stuff?
I believe that caving in ice will cause it to melt.
nooope. But running magma one z level under it sure will.

I've reed that caving it in will melt it when it's sufficiently under ground. I don't know how many lvls...
Personally I just avoid freezing and cold biomes.

It will not hinder their shooting (as far as I know), but it may slow them down slightly.
Personally, I think it would be worth it, but I may be wrong.

One of my dwarves drowned in a river.
Is there any way to retrieve his body without draining or damming the river?

If it freezes in the winter, you might be able to dig up his bones.

No I purposely embarked in a warm biome to avoid freezing rivers

So, I'm playing Adventure Mode, trying to figure out how the hell it works, and I find this nice little iron whip on the ground. How do I equip it?

Drop your held weapon, pisk up the whip ([g]), then pick your first weapon back up.

Unfortunately there's no other ways. Forbid the corpse and let it rot.
