0.31.12 has nearly everything good that's in 31.13.

Minus the lag inducing civilization farm spamming right?

I'll be able to play it without my thing exploding when I hit embark?? =o

Farm sprawl was added in 31.13, you won't find it in worlds generated in 31.12 or earlier.

You can also create a world in 31.12 and then copy the save file over to your 31.13 install, to get the bug fixes in 31.13 without the farm sprawl.

I have some stupid problem. I can't set up farms in underground. Well, one existing farm is built on loam, and I had one before built on clay. So, I don't have to get mud on these, right? Yet, when I'm trying to set plants in farm options, even plump helmets aren't avaible. And I have 150 of these spawns! This is really weird. I had channeled out ceiling near these unusable farms, and farms built there in open light don't have any problems. For the love of Armok, my dwarfs aren't eating plump helmets, but wild strawberries and berries. And it is wrong. Mainly because of flying monsters, which can get in my fortress pretty easily.

It is a bug, or what? I'm playing on Lazy Newbie Pack, 0.31.12v4.6.

You need mud underground, even if you have soil.

In 31, underground farms need to be irrigated with water to have mud deposited on them, even if they're built on clay or loam or some other kind of soil.

Or they can just be placed on the naturally occuring cavern mud.

You can build a floor on top of your outside farm to protect it against flying monsters. It will still count as outdoor and crops will be growing.

I don't think I got an answer the last time I asked. Is there a way to force digging and disable the "hot stone" message temporarily? I want to dig out one level above magma to build some forges there, but it's taking forever because I keep getting that message.

Will water run down stairs normally like it's going down a channel? Vertically.

Sad that I can't fish those fish out of my indoor pond. That would totally obviate the need to put war animals with my fisherdwarfs.

On that note, how many dwarfs can a legendary fisherdwarf feed?

At legendary its not the dwarf's fishing time that'll limit you it'll be the number of fish the water source can produce.
