Dining room is not outside (and collecting refuse from outside is on anyway). My dwarves will dump the ones in the hall to the garbage zone, the ones downstairs, etc etc, just not the stones in the dining room. There may be another place in my fort that they refuse to dump as well, but if there is I haven't run into it yet.

I have only ever experienced that problem when the room in question has been made 'outside' by digging a skylight. But if you have already forbidden those rocks for some reason that would prevent them from being hauled.

Just checked. They're not forbidden, and they're 4 Z-levels underground. =/ Is it a bug? Because don't dwarves also usually move rocks aside if they're blocking where a building is to be built?

only if they hve rock-hauling enabled. otherwise they cancel-spam the jobs in question.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

How many days are there in each month?

What would happen if I dropped lava onto the surface of an ocean? Would the obsidian stay on the surface? Sink to the bottom?

You'd get a cave-in, unless the obsidian was in contact with land.

Hm, so it'd breach the ocean floor?

Possible, but there'd be no way to aim it.

Actually I'd prefer if it didn't. An obsidian-cast fortress in the ocean would be awesome.

Ah heck, I'll just try it. For science!

Is there a way to make the game not pause on discovering damp/warm stone? The notification is enough, and the cancellation of the job is good, but the pausing is infuriating when I'm trying to collapse the whole river a floor.

init/announcements.txt, remove the P (pause) and R (recenter on event)

Anyone else want to try this announcements change?

dwarf mode log (D_D) tells these rarer combat happenings, nice to "hear" when the foes get hurt. Might help you detect wildlife hurting your livestock, too.

My masons and stone crafters seem to stop working after a while even when there's walls and floors to be built.  The game keeps marking them as no job, yet there are plenty of jobs left and most of the jobs are accessable.  What gives?  Suspending and recalling the order does nothing.
