Is there a way to find the curious structure on the embark screen? I really want to have one on my map.

Is there some way you can equip a military to avoid being damaged by creatures made of fire/steam? I know you're not exactly supposed to survive the incredible levels of fun that come from digging too deep, but seeing fifteen Legendary++ dwarves get helplessly melted and bleed out - in spite of hacking their opponents apart and seemingly blocking or dodging every actual swing - is a slightly anticlimactic final battle.
Shields with good skill protect against directed burning attacks (i.e. firebreath). also: some nether-cap armor.

If you have one it displays lots of wealth in your screen and you can probably find it through the "stocks" menu.

I mean before embarking, after world gen.

c) Is there a reason to make things out of rose gold, electrum and such, when there is enough gold, platinum and aluminum around?
c) Because you can.

Also,

Because a noble demands it.  Because a noble likes it, even if it hasn't been demanded.  Because the caravan brought some.

I have abundant bronze and my armorer just hit legendary, so I'm trying to figure out what I should make with my very limited steel stocks.

Head, torso, feet, legs.  In that order.

A head/torso injury can kill you.  A foot or leg injury can make you permanently unable to do anything but leech food/water, so that you might as well be dead.

A hand/arm injury can make you unfit for certain types of military service, but you'd have to lose the use of both hands to become as bad off as a guy with just one elfin' nerve damaged in his foot.

As others have said, shield material is irrelevant for blocking; what matters is shield skill.  If you bash with the shields, then the material might matter a little.

I embarked on a glacier and I can only dig up/down stairs a few z-levels down. Any further down and it is canceled. I can't even build anything on that level.

None. It just won't dig them. It's just ground there. When building, I think I get can't reach destination.

Are you lining up the stairs correctly?
Try channeling from the layer above, then digging around at the bottom of the ramp.

At the moment only creatures with [PET] seem to breed, and I don't think minotaurs have the [PET] tag.

minos are semi megabeast which might prevent them from breeding even if you add them [PET] tag.

Is it possible to adjust the density of minerals during worldgen? I know .19 has put a damper on what it used to be, but maxxing out (according prospector, in a lot of different biomes) at like 3000 for what is usually just a single type of metal (besides the candy stuff) seems kinda meh. I did hit 10,000 with gold in one, though I would of been happier if it had been Tetrahedrite.

EDIT: Also, why does every world I create with the 'create new world' (as opposed to advanced parems) give me..islands? Like, half to two thirds of the map is covered in ocean. Even on the largest ones. Severely limits embark choices =[

How does one go about making wooden armor? I know how to make shields and weapons out of wood, but armor?

[WOOD_ARMOUR] in the entity file, or a reaction to produce it directly.

Dwarves lack this tag in vanilla and elves don't have access to nethercaps, so you'll rarely see subterranean wooden armour without modding. 'Rarely' because underground civs use underground wood, but I don't know if it would fit a dwarf.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
