Yes?

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Question. How names for oceans/continents/civilizations generated? Can I affect it in any way through RAWs ? I got a little bit obsessed with good sounding names lately, and been regenerating worlds for more than a week to get some. I'm a little tired of it by now.

Randomly.
I think you can skew the probabilities of certain words by adding more of them to the language files.

I distinctly remember having lots of goblin and elf bones in a fort?

Make weapon traps with slicing weapons - disks, axes.  Chop chop.  The arms and legs will rot to bone I think.

If you use the same "name seed" for different worlds, you will often get similar named features in wildly different worlds.

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Has Toady fixed the obsidian/stone short swords (are they actual rock swords or still wooden)?

They were always obsidian, the bug was that they were named incorrectly.
It has since been fixed.

They should be wood, unless Toady has specifically stated that it's a bug that they are wooden.

The obsidian swords are actually made from wood, with edges of obsidian.  The Aztecs used them, though I don't think there are any known to be in existence any longer.  Some were still around recently enough that there are some pretty good descriptions of them.

This is actually what I was hoping for. Now I just need somebody to tell me where language files is.
EDIT: Disregard that, I just found them.
EDIT2: I heavily edited language files. No affect on the worldgen. I suppose this part hard-coded after all. Well, back to world regening then.

I know about macuahuitl, but in one version, they were just plain wood. Like what the elves have.

So when do you get your mayor in the newest version? i just passed 80 dwarves and still do not have one...

*EDIT*

Also, if i assign my sword/spear/axe dwarves both a training weapon and a real weapon will they use them in the correct situations or just use one randomly?

You literally mean that there are rock shortswords that don't use rock at all?

So when do you get your mayor in the newest version? i just passed 80 dwarves and still do not have one...

I think I had a mayor at a population of 50, and since a mayor is functionally equivalent to an expedition leader, at least as far as I recall, I don't see the problem either way.

I think elections only happen in the spring. So if you hit 80 during a fall migrant wave, you're going to have to wait a couple of seasons, then.

Do the ghosts of dead merchants come to haunt you? They were elves, so I didn't really care that there was a siege right at the moment the caravan arrived...and I'll probably get around to making memorials for them sometime soon anyway. All those gobbos...and named creatures...and the etting, the minotaur, my dead dorfs that couldn't be buried...

I'm just worried about whether or not the elves will take up coffins.

I don't know about elven ghosts haunting you, but digging out a catacomb to put coffins or memorial slabs into really shouldn't be that big of a deal.
