Nothing seems to be happening to them.

I was expecting death to the entire fortress...I am disappoint, forgotten beast.

Is there a way to build a pressure plate so that fluids can flow through it?

Do you mean downwards through it?
If so, I'm afraid not.

Well I got that idea from the repeater schematics posted at the wiki. I've mofied it a bit to have water drain sideways of the plate and now it should work.
Hmm, turns out a retracting bridge doesn't close when submerged. Have to change it to a raising one.

Retracting bridges most certainly do close when submerged.  They don't atomsmash water, or fling it around, but they will close.  Provided you've linked them to a triggering device that sends the bridge a 'close' signal, anyway.

Having magma on a level can hurt dwarfs/burn things on other nears z-lvl? (Having a magma reservoir under my forges in the center of my forts isn't dangerous?)

IIRC, as long as there's a wall or floor between the magma and the dwarf, they're safe. You could fill all the walls of your fort full of magma, surround your fort with it, flood the land above with it and more as long as they don't touch it. I have a moat of magma under a bridge in front of my fort and dwarves walk over that bridge, and near the magma itself, regularly. If they touch it, they're dead.

I have a small little question. Is it better to have lots of 2x2 bedrooms (unassigned) or one large dormitory?

makes no difference, except it's be easier for the player to manage.

My question: Can we weaponize exploding booze?

I've got a wounded military dwarf outside and all my hauler dorfs seem more interested in the dead goblin's socks than helping him to my hospital. Is there any way to tell them to save my soldier and forget about the goblin's left mitten?  :P

If you start having happiness issues with dwarves, giving them their own rooms and making them nice will make it easier to keep them happy.

Personally I give every dwarf a 5x5 enclosure with a bedroom in one corner, a dining room in another, a tomb in the third corner, and a throne room in the fourth corner.  Then when I get high skilled engravers by smoothing walls, I send them through and engrave everything.  Nobles that need bigger/better rooms get extra rooms, but they always keep their old rooms too, in case their noble status changes.

I've never had a tantrum spiral.  The only times when I have out of control dwarves is when they can't get what they want for their artifacts, and go insane.  Occasionally a diplomat gets locked inside a fort during a seige and goes nuts.

Oh, and a statue in the middle of the room, making the statue garden overlap all the other 4 rooms.

Find a scrub dwarf and take off all their jobs except recover wounded and see what happens?
