Food which is in a food stockpile of any kind will not rot.  If it's not in a barrel it may wear, becoming damaged over time, especially if stored outside or exposed to food-eating vermin.  This is different than rotting.  Trade depots seem to count as food stockpiles, so food stored in the trade depot will not rot.

Got a couple of dwarfs in hospital, they do not appear to have any wounds that would prevent them getting up - i.e. no "motor nerve severed" or other motor nerve damage, but they don't want to move.

Got one dwarf who was wounded, goes to work occasionally, but frequently goes to "Rest" in the hospital instead of "Sleep" in their own room.

Any ideas?

i have the same problem, i fixed them up with casts and sutures and they ahve no health problems but they still rest and jsut stay there.  oh well, undesignate hospital?

i just had someone taken by a fey mood and created an artifact mechanism worth 103,000.  should i use this in a trap or leave it alone?

i have met all the requirements stated on wiki, had 2 dwarf caravans come and go and still not a baron, when will i get a baron?

In order to get a baron, you need to make sure that your expedition leader or mayor does not talk to the trade liaison at all until after the caravan has left the map.

C++.
AFAIK it uses SDL. Maybe OpenGL, but probably not.

False. Trade Depots are NOT food stockpiles. Once trading is done, food WILL gladly rot in one.

I'm pretty sure I've had food sit in trade depots for quite some time without rotting.  I'll have to go and test this.

Use an artifact made of a flammable material like coal or wood.  Artifacts burn forever.  Put it in a fireproof metal bin if you want to make sure it's impossible to put out with water.

I want to be able to have multiple fires and I can't guarentee that many artifacts. I'm currently thinking of using wooden blocks.
