It's a hatch, placed on the floor.

Hi.

Is there a way to change priorities of tasks ? (and how do i do it  :P)

In particular, i would like to raise the priority of feed patients/prisonners, in order to avoid frequent starving/deshydratation of dwarves resting. I would like also to lower the priority for building wall and floor, and/or raise priority of the mason's workshop, in order to keep my good masons working on workshop. And also raise the priority of all Doctor's tasks, like setting bone, apply cast, etc...
And some other less important too.

that you cannot do. however you can set burrow to restrict working area of certain dwarves. With nothing better to do in those area, said dwarves will do low-priority jobs you want.

its basicaly a door that goes on the floor.  lol it rhymes...n e way...you can lock it and make it pet impassable so you can use it to seal off staircases and ramps, but watch out for building destroyers.

ive gotten in the habit of replacing my chief medical dwarf as soon as he gains any notable skill in diagnosis.
It's really funny watching them do unnecessary surgery because of a wrong diagnosis.
the conditions were bad enough to turn a dwarf who didn't care about anything mad, that's pretty hardcore.

I've had an odd dumping problem lately; I'm stripping prisoners of all their valuables but my dwarves keep insisting on running to stockpiles that are at the furthest reaches of my fortress instead of using the new one I designated right next to the cages... I've already lost a lot of valuable weapons the prisoners had on them to dwarves running to my dumps that lead to places where the items aren't retrievable. Is this a glitch, or must I turn off every other dumping zone to let the dwarves know what I want to do?

EDIT: Whoop, never mind, apparently that was necessary. It seems odd though, why wouldn't the dwarves prioritize the nearest available dump zone?

Ok, another question then: Is there any way to make a dwarf prioritize crop harvesting? I get so many withered plants, and I have loads of available barrels, so what am I missing? Is there any specific place a barrel should be in order for it to accept a certain crop?

To avoid having patients starving to death remove all labors from a few (depending on number of patients o/c) dwarfs who have no useful skills. Remember that patients will only drink water (from a well/river/pond or similar) and the dwarf bringing the water needs a bucket. Patients also don't seem to be able to eat cooked meals. So make sure you have some plump helmets or other stuff that is edible raw.

Can you bait elephants with animals or something? Or even giant eagles? Cause I've got both on my map and I'm trying to capture some elephants.
